BCBS & DS

Hello,

I just called BCBSIL, and the procedure code I gave them for DS is not COVERED!

How is that possible!!!! They then told me I might want to ask them for another procdure code!

I NEED YOUR THOUGHTS!

I am soooooooooooooooo hurt right now!

Talk to the insurance experts on the DS board - someone will be able to tell you what's up.  Don't get too worried yet.  There is still hope.

I have BCBS of TN and their policy is the same for DS. My guess is that it is a no go for them paying. I don't believe you can appeal if your policy has a specific exclusion for a procedure, but I'm no expert on insurance.

BCBS only cover RNY and lap band. They are pretty strict about it.  It is awful when the insurance can tell your doctor what to do.. I am so sorry but maybe your policy is different. you should be able to look up what all they do cover.

I fought BC/BS in NJ about the DS getting covered for 2 years, and they changed their policy...  It can be done....and every once in a while, the little (or REALLY big) person wins!!    Mary C
