Company changing insurance

Ok ,, you are not going to believe this. My husband opened the envelope that the payroll sheets come in and there was an extra letter in there from the company. It says as of August 1st they are going to change insurance companies from Blue Cross Blue Shield to Health Alliance.
I cant believe it.. I just got finished with all the requirements of Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Surgeons office just sent off for approval this week. But now that won't matter because the surgery will not be before August 1st.. I don't know what the policy is for the new insurance on Bariatric surgery. I don't know if the deductibles I have met will flow over to the new insurance. Now I feel like I am starting over.. I went on line and looked up my surgeon and he is not on their PPO list nor is the hospital.. But I think they would be covered as in network because there is no one within 50 miles that is in network ...  Oh I cant believe it.  Five years of fighting and now to start over. What else can be thrown in the way of me getting this surgery.. This is just unreal..

I am so sorry.

Why in the world would they change insurance mid-year?

Hugs.

Do you know who it's changing to?

Hi Dawn

I think that was when their policy was up with Blue Cross.. I just hope all the deductible and out of pocket amounts flow over to the new one. I am in a waiting game now.. I though it was all done and now I just had to wait for BCBS's approval.. I said surely there can't be another problem now.. WRONG... This has really been a fight..

thanks for hugs.. I needed that...

Hi there

One more thing you don't need.  I would think that some of your information, coverage, etc. would be able to be grandfathered.  One week's notice for insurance change--that is really awful.

I would call your surgeon first thing Monday and have them run this stuff thru the new company or talk to the benefits person (or have your husband do it) at his job.  I think between the two they can come up with answers.  Especially getting the Benefits person involved--the insurance company knows that they are the consumer.

Keep us posted-keep positive--it will all be worth it.

Thanks for the advice..  I know I was so mad a the last minute notice, we haven't gotten our cards or booklet either.. The ins they are changing to Health Alliance. I looked on line at Health Alliance of course it is just the main insurance not our policy yet but they do pay for bypass surgery. Most of the pre requisites are the same except I must maintain the weight I was at the last supervised diet visit. I was 257 then.. I weighed Monday at the surgeons at 258.. I hope one pound don't make a difference.. I go up and down 2-3 lbs almost daily.. Today I am 255.. I wasn't too worried about the weight, I am just trying to maintain some so the surgery will be easier .. then I still have to do the two week liquid before surgery. Oh well a little added stress to stay below or at 257.... what else is new..  I am just going to have to wait until I get the booklet and cards and go from there. I went to a seminar Saturday so my husband could meet the surgeon and learn more. I told the director that day and gave her a copy of what I printed off of the web site. Now I just have to wait until we get the cards and call her with that information. I think it is going to be ok..  as long as the company didn't make it an exclusion. I wouldn't think so..
