I stunned at what a year it has been. I would have wrote this yesterday but have been on medical so life is a little out of sorts right now. I just wanted to post this and let the people who are farther out know how much of a motivation they are to me. I have a hard time relating to the main board since the amount I have lost is over a lot of them and I know my journey is going to be longer.
I have lost as of this morning 215.50 lbs!!! AMAZING!!!
I have about 60 more to go and I know my journey is going to be tough from here on out
but I have found a renewed determination to keep working at this..

Thanks again everyone for your great words of support!

way to go! 215 lbs IS amazing. i'm so happy for you.

i'm 4 1/2 years out, and had this number in mind that i wanted to reach so that i could say i'd lost 300 lbs. and yesterday, i hit that number! i'd been sitting at 1 lb above it for weeks. it was quite an exciting moment to see it on the scale for the first time.

hang in there, you can make those last 60 lbs!

On July 9, 2008, I took that uncertain but exciting road to RNY surgery.  I have 2 birthdays now like all of us with my actual birthday being July 3rd and my surgiversary being July 9th.

For me this year, it was like Christmas in July.  I went in the operating room one year and 6 days ago weighing 160 pounds heavier and 180 pounds heavier than my highest weight.  What is even better is that I was 53 at the time I had surgery.

I have about as much as you have to go to reach my own goal (the surgeon told me less would put me at healthy) but I am amazed at all of the things I gained:  the ability to walk and exercise somewhat vigorously (I made the treadmill's 99 minute program and walked 3.0 mph with an average of 5.2 incline for 5 miles--I did, however, get a heck of a blood blister which I am recovering from--just have to get smarter about putting vaseline on my feet before embarking) and can exercise (water aerobics, eliptical, weight training) about 3-4 days a week before I got this.

I know it will slow down from here but I have the same determination that I will not let myself get back to where I was.  I feel so much happier and more confident in myself than I have in many years.  Plastics are a decision that I have to make down the road but I will take the loose skin and the turkey neck that looks like a prune over it being filled with fat.

Congrats--you are an inspiration.   Do the happy dance. The only regret I have is that I couldn't have done this when I was younger but I believe technology has changed since those days and the master works in mysterious ways.
