Patty, 56, in Oregon after 43 years in Central Pennsylvania.
I'm non-op so far, due to not being able to quit smoking. I've lost 90 lbs. doing a modified SouthBeach/Medifast program. I'd be farther along if I had to tool to whup me upside the head if I eat bad stuff, but I'm managing.
Married with 2 step-kids and a DH I met on the internets. I work as a systems & business analyst for the state of Oregon (computer stuff).

Hi! wow you are all so inspirational!
My Name is Jackie and my surgery is scheduled for July 16th as long as I get cleared tomorrow from my urologist. During pre-op tests they found a big kidney stone.. had to deal with that for the last month with lithotropsy and a stent in me for the last 4 months! please come out tomorrow!!! fingers crossed!
My 40th birthday is July 17th the day after my rny sugery and in a way Im excited to start my re-birthday during this time.
During pre-ops we found I was 385, (bmi = 58) Im 5'8" with almost every comorbidity you can have even though I didn't know I had them. Very severe sleep apnea (now on cpap), high cholesteral, high triglycerides, low calcium, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, etc. etc. oh wait.. and I even turned the corner to have diabetes.. this freaked me out at my medical appt. 2 weeks ago.
I started my liquid pre-op diet last thursday and so far have lost 13.8 lbs which even makes a lil difference.
I've been engaged for 6 years and my fiance is not so thrilled or supportive with me having surgery but this is for me and my friends and family support me so if it doesn't work out that I get married to him, that I guess is how it will be. Things happen for a reason I guess. I just hope that I someday I'll be able to have a child. I don't want to be too old. So we will see :)
I want to feel good, i've been overweight my whole life but there were many years that I was heavy but fit.. now Im heavier and so not fit. I feel like crap most of the time and I can't wait for my life to change.
I love reading all your stories and Im so excited to share the journey with you all!
Big hugs to all!
Jackie - the tech tard.. can't get my ticker tracker to work lol
