One Year (and One Week)!
One year!
So officially last Tuesay, June 16th I marked my one year anniversary of VSG surgery. I tell you that it really has taken a whole week to kind of process it. I am very pleased with my results and still expect more from myself. Right after surgery I put myself on a three year plan. Knowing I had so much weight to lose and hearing that for my surgery that 60% of excess weight loss was considered success didnt sit right with me. I want the whole 100% gone and staying gone. So I started on the say of surgery with a weight of 465. My one year goal was to be 333. A loss of 47%. Well I was 302 last tuesday and 300 today, which brings my loss to 59%!!! My year two goal is to lose 84 more pounds. Year three, the last 52. So now I have more wiggle room and that is a realistic goal for me. I hear the compliments but nothing is as powerful as visual evidence. I never want to forget where I started my journey.

Yeah, being 5'11 has its advantages....
***eyes closed: "Picturing tall drink of water...."
*** eyes open: "There are so few really tall folks out here."
Don't compare pounds to pounds
I thank God for OH becasue very early on I read someone's blog entry about a way to compare weight loss especially when people are starting from different points and have such huge differences in goals. It used to frustrate me and make me squeal with jealousy to see people reach goal in less than 6 months, but I had to stop all that negative thinking. Here's the formula:
% of excess weight loss = # of lbs of weight actually lost
________________________ (divided by)
# of lbs of weight you are expected to lose ( ultimate goal) your excess weight
Ex. 165 lost
________ = 59% of excess weight loss
279 expected loss
