My surgeon gave me the go ahead on eating regular food... No matter what it is I'm usually in the bathroom vomitting it all up..  Every other day seems like a day I can eat food some days not..  I'm still having a rough time getting all my protein in because I Usually vomit it all up too....  I just wanna be able to eat something without vomitting... i wish I never done this is the point I'm at now... Maybe I was just meant to be a fatty I don' t know.  I'm sick of wasting money on eating when it doesn't stay down for long, I am about to quit eating period and just drink....

I'm so darn tired of this all... sorry for my whine I'm just at my end of the rope today...

I had a similar issue after about the fourth week I was having issues keeping foods down.  Did not seem to matter what it was.  Under my surgens guidance we decided I needed to go back to protein shakes for a few more weeks to give my puoch further time to heal as he felt it was likely due to some irritation at the attachment line.  Well I am happy to report that it seemed to work, I have not had too many issues since then and was able to slowly re-introduce foods per the plan without further issues.  Though I do admit that I was sick of protein shakes at that point in the long run it paid off because being sick all the time is no way to live.

Of course I have not asked you are you chewing well like to cthe consitency of smoth applesauce before you swallow anything?  Also is it a certain type of food, are you making sure everything is moist...

I am sure you have that all wrapped up but just some thoughts to consider.  Sorry you are having trouble. Hang in there and try shakes for a day and see how that works, if you feel better maybe you should consider shakes for another week and try again?

Hang in there it gets better.  It really does.  I was really struggling with the transition to regular foods - I am still struggling for that matter.  I thought I might have had a stricture but I can eat some days so I figured not.  I was throwing up it felt like every other meal about 3 weeks ago.  I called my surgeon and was advised to slow way down - even more - I mean how long can it take to eat 3 ounces of food? - 20 mins to a half hour I was told.  I had slowed down considerably from pre-op but I wasn't going quite slow enough. When I slowed up, it did get better - I still throw up if I even think I'm in a hurry.  I probably throw up about 3 times a week now.  Not optimal but it beats 3 times a day.  I  have a couple of foods I very rarely throw up - yogurt, beans, and vegetarian chili - Wendy's chili with meat works okay for me too - and I rely heavily on them when like you I've had it with the throwing up or "unswallowing" as a support group member calls it.

Best wishes,

Rhonda
