Hey all,

Carolinrn sent me over here from the roux board.

I haven't got my profile set up yet, but I am 26, soon to be 27, a Nurse, a mommy to 3 boys 6 and under, and a wife.............and I have a BMI of 56. To high to have the life I have. I have no health issues, I can still get around decently enough, and I am going to have surgery before I do develop a health issue, and before I am stuck on my butt. I am scared, scared, scared. I am also excited, but more scared.

I look forward to meeting everyone here, and having some friends who know what I am going through.

Emilie :)

Welcome Emilie!!!

This board is great... Sometimes starting out with a BMI over 50, can give us different problems that we must face.  The folks here really understand that!!!

I started out with a BMI over 60!!!  and am way down from that now!!  I love my RNY

Hello from one newbie to another!

BMI 56, turning 50 years old at the end of the month, and have finally made up my mind to go ahead and go for it! (not getting any younger, sadly!)

I think you are really wise to be going for it at a young age! I waited because I have always been quite healthy and relatively active...until the last couple of years. Now I can hardly walk most days.

Good luck on your journey and I look forward to going along with you!

Thanks all for the replies :) I agree that I should probably have it done now, while I am healthy, and not regretting 10 years down the road that I didn't get it done now. It is so weird though, as it comes closer and closer (next few weeks/month) I am just getting more scared. I am not excited. I am scared. Not so much of the surgery itself, though it is horrible to think of dying and leaving my boys and husband behind because I couldn't just lose the freakin weight on my own, but I am scared of the drastic life changes afterwards. What will I do without my comfort, stress relief, and joy.....food?
