Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting. I read alot of posts but never created an account until now. I have a big big problem and I need some advice. I had gastric bypass 9 months ago. I lost 150 pounds and still need to lose another 150 pounds. I am out of control. All my old habits are developing. I am pushing my limits, not doing what I am supposed to be doing, eating fast foods. I am not a dumper, sugar does not affect me, not drinking my water. I just do not know what has gotten into me. I was so careful and did everything by the book and the first time I somewhat cheated and it did nothing to me I kept doing it. I want to be successful and reach my goal weight and at this rate it will not happen. I stopped exercising too. I do not want to gain back all my weight plus some. I want to reach my goal. I just feel so out of control. Any suggestions or anyone want to beat me to the pole, lol. Please help me. Thank you.

I think you need to find a therapist of some kind to talk to. As everyone says, the surgery is on your stomach, not your head.

I know in my case, I need to find a therapist before I get to the point where I start sabotaging myself. Right now I'm on mushies, but once I get to the point where I can eat somewhat normal food, I'm worried.

But you took a great first step by posting here -- you recognize you have a problem. So get back on the wagon, and find a therapist to help you work through your issues that are causing you to sabotage yourself.

Take care of yourself,

Patti

http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html

cutting out the sugar an excess carbs etc.. like first stages after surgery.. if u truly want to lose more weight u can an will.. u relised u were screwing up an had the power to ask for help..  now u just need to follow through.. easier said then done?? Absofu*kinloutly.... but u CAN do it.. u've come this far... dont give up on urself... u know what u need to do.... get moving an eat right again.. starting with ur next meal... guess what its not a diet... u didnt blow it.. u havent failed...its a choice u have made to live healthier an get fit... its ok to give urself a abreak when an if u can.. but now its time to get back to work on you... you deserve only the best.. so give it to yourself...!!

And I recommend throwing the stupid pouch test out a window. It's another crash diet-- isn't that what we're trying to avoid? Why swing the pendulum all the way back? Go back to moderation, and stop the all or nothing approaches: that kind of thinking made us fat in the first place.

Tara,
Hang in there girl, you have made a huge accomplishment losing a whopping 150 lbs.  I want you to try to focus on that success and focus on how wonderful that success has made you feel, then use that as your motivator.  Seek counseling, go to the support group meetings in your area, talk to someone *****ally cares about you but who is also sensitive to all that you are facing.  YOU ARE GOING TO BE FINE............ WOW 150 LBS, YOU ARE AWESOME!

I don't dump either. But i went into this sick, desperate and dying-- and made this covenant-- not with some arcane rulebook, but with myself. It's sacred and worth protecting.

Log everything. Total accountability. On the RNY board, every day there's a "What Are You Eating Today?" thread. Post in it and be honest with yourself.

And exercise? Do it for all the people who can't-- there's millions who'd love to have a healthy body like yours that can move and make itself healthier-- and they can't. You can. Do it!

KUDOS for signing up to the best online support family for WLS people!

HUGE KUDOS for loosing 150 lbs!!!!! That is soooooo awesome!

I am post op 10 weeks and down 42.... I hope to be on track like you!

You have worked really hard and sometiems we just want what we want. I agree with going to the weight center where you had your surgery and speaking with nutrition as well as with the Behavioral Medicine people. They are specially trained to help with these specific issues for post op WLS patients.  I also have a great councelor outside of the weight center as well. They cover all my bases!

Don't worry.... this is a hiccup in your process. One you can get past with a little help and a bunch of support. You have come to the right place for support for sure. WE are your WLS family! We are here for you!   Hang in there! This too shall pass!

I also remember seeing on a pamphlet the surgeon gave me a recommendation of going to a place called OA... Overeaters Annonymous. Maybe that would be a good place to go. I understand there is alot of support at those meetings and they are free.  I know a couple people who have gone and it has been a lot of help to them.  I was consideering checking out a few in my area to see if they would help  me ..... just getting through each day can be tough sometimes.

Keep up the great work! You can do it!

I agree with all the advice except the five day pouch test.  It is not worthwhile.  If is very important to detox from sugar and simple carbs because it sets up a craving cycle.  The first week is the hardest.  After a month, you won't miss it a all.  I think the second part of the journey is the hardest.  Get a therapist and sort out your feelings.  Hugs and empathy.  Loris
