So not to jinx my self but.. i need to talk about this.. i had my RNY feb 23 09 an getting in all the fluids an protein was hard at first..  just didnt seem like there was enough room inside me for what they recommended.. but now almost 2 months out.. im managing to eat 3-4 times a day an get in all sometimes more water then needed..im only eating whats on my allowed food list an the amount thats allowed but after 6 weeks on mostly fluids(shakes etc) it seems like it might be too much.. at least to me.. only been sick once an it was definitly my fault i drank milk to soon after eating an gulped it.. (lesson learned) anyhow the reason i needed to talk about this is.... im just curious.. im always reading and hearing about people dumping an not tolerating foods an so on.. i'd like to know if there are others that have had it as dare i say easy as i have???  other then only being able to eat a smaller amount per meal it doesnt even seem i have had surgery... (not that im complaining)  im just curious...

I don't have any food intolerances at all, and it doesn't seem to have hurt me much.

I am almost 8 months out, and I also don't feel like I had surgery, except for the fact that I'm never hungry, I'm satisfied with a tiny amount of food and, oh yeah, I've lost lots of weight!  Your experience sounds perfectly normal.  I haven't dumped either, but I also haven't tried anything that would make me dump.  The only things that made me sick were steamed vegetables at 6 weeks out, and some chicken that was too dry.  When I was at the stage you're at, I was worried that my surgery wasn't working because I didn't feel a huge restriction.  Around three months out, I really started to feel it though.  I was told that the nerves in your stomach take a while to heal from the surgery, but when they do you will really feel the restriction, and that's a good thing!

You are doing great!  Keep on keepin' on!

Hello,
I had my RNY on March 2, 2009 and it was so easy - I asked the doctor if her really DID something to me. I have had ZERO problems from day ONE. I was home 22 hours after my surgery and used no pain medication at all.
I can eat 1/2 cups  and feel full and comfortable. I do not like how meat "feels" in my stomach so I only eat it once a week. This has been a very enjoyable journey, thank you, Lord. I, too, eat only what I am allowed.
I did have one 'dumping' episode when I drank MUSSEL MILK. In about 20 minutes I was sitting in the bathroom. Cleaned me out but that's it.
I am so glad to read you had the same experience, too. I read the ugly stuff people write and I just don't know how to respond - sure don't want to get "told off" as I have read some people do to others.
Enjoy your blessing and keep up the good work

I too have been blessed in not having really many issues. As you get further out you will notice the restriction more or at least I did. At about 3 months I really started to notice it. Incidently that was when I really started experimenting with a wider variety of foods (all allowed just more variety than I had allowed myself at first.) My doctor is one that recommends 1-2 protien shakes a day to help make sure you are getting your protien levels in and I really notice that I loss better when I get in extra protien. I am glad that you are having such a great and easy journey.

Peggy never feel you have to lurk becaus eyou have had a easy journey. People need to hear the good as well as the bad so they will know what can happen. So many times the ones that get noticed teh most is teh ones who has had issues and becaus eof that people are still looking at our choice as being so dangerous. Us lucky ones need to squeak sometimes and let it be known that it can be a easy ride too.
