Is there a chance to have it this way?

Hi Emelinda~
I was 33 and 5 foot 7 1/2 and weighed 406 lbs on the day of my laproscopic RNY surgery.  I had complications healing (abcess) but other than that everything went OK.  Try not to worry.  You'll be so out of it you won't care about any of the stuff you bring with you post op.  Just take shoes to do your rounds in (They will make you get up and walk...with assistance) and maybe a hair scrunchie or something.  When I was in for my complication and more "with it" I brought magazines and a book to keep me busy.  Mom brought my laptop in everyday for me to keep tabs on  internetland.

Ohhh...chapstick is good to have too!

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

I was 422 the day of surgery and it was done Lap.  I am also 30... I was not quite a healthy fat person, but I am on my way to getting to be a normal weight healthy person!

If you have any questions feel free to pm me, or reply here of course :)

433 day of, BMI of 55.6 down from 509 at my highest. I am also 6 2 so a bit more spread out. there was great debate the morning of surgery on whether he would go lap or open. He had to make a couple of extra holes but got the lap done just fine. I have 7 "bullet" wounds but came out great.

Try to get as physically fat as possible pre-op and walk walk walk

My mom was over 400 pounds and 62 years of age when she had her RNY Laprocscopically.  My college roommate was over 400 pounds and they had to do her RNY open.  I think it all just depends on your body and your surgeon.  Hang in there.

I think it has more to do with the surgeon's skills than weight.  My surgeon has only done 2 opens and the rest lap. RNY.  Thankfully, he did me lap.

I had a BMI of 63 and weighed 407 pounds I was told that he preferred to do everyone Lap. but if something came up I would be opened. I believe it is more a precaution most of the time, because if they didn't tell you and something came up and it had to be done open then you could get on them for not telling you. I packed tons of stuff and all I used was my slippers, robe (for modesty walking the halls as my doctor keeps RNY patients 3 days) tolietries and CHAPSTICK! Your lips will be dry and cracked after surgery especially the longer they make you wait for the blue ice test to check for leaks. Something my doctor does on every patien before letting them leave the hospital. He says he would rather catch any thing before you leave than for a patient to think it was normal and not let him know if something was wron

Oh yeah I took my cell phone as it has all my numbers programmed in and when you are drugged up it is so hard to dial a number number. LOL.
