Home from the hospital today & AOk!
Well, my surgery on Tue am went well, from all accounts! Only bummer was dry heaves from anesthesia and after every Dilaudid injection, despite IVs and injections of anti-nausea meds! Modern technology is awesome...I can't believe I walked out of the hospital after having major surgery to have my digestive system permanently altered 48 hours later with just a few little incisions, how nuts is that?! I refused the pain meds starting about 24 hours ago and feel more human today. I will take some of the liquid lortab syrup before I settle into the recliner tonight, my first night home. I was able to wipe (important stuff!) and take a leisurely shower today on my own! Not much gas pain, the first two days, I think...some liquid diarrhea today/tonight. (sorry to gross anyone out!)...Im sipping, walking a bit (doubled-over like...guess I'm gonna have to take some kinda pain med, maybe even Tylenol strips in the daytime for walking & getting up purposes). I was so very excited for ice chips after that horrible upper GI test with the gross "milkshake"...omg, was I soooo disappointed that the ice wracked me with tummy cramps...hope I get to use my new ice crusher for slushees sometime in the future as its room temp liquids for me at this time...any advice on this? But hey, I'm HOME with my boyfriend and puppies! And my mom & dad who insisted on coming for the week to help take care of me, though I'm surprisingly self-sufficient..::Holds up diluted protein bullet:::cheers to the success of this journey!

Way to go! Sounds like you are off to a great start! I wish you well and will keep you in my thoughts! I had my surgery on 2/11/09 and I just had my 2 month check up. I don't have to go back again until 8/27! Today I was given permission to start having regular "mini-meals". I was very excited about that!
Remember to take good care of yourself and let others help you while you have help. Don't over do it.... pace yourself. I was very energetic right after the surgery and I tried to do too much and then I kinda got my butt kicked a little and I needed to slow down.
I wish you all the success! You are going to do great!
