Calling All Pear Shapes...esp. females!

I'm entering week 5 post op of my DS, and was wondering about the weight loss pattern these fellow body types are experiencing.

Personally, I'm a SMO with a BMI over 50, of course carrying most of my weight below the waist..

I can tell I've lost weight in my problem area by the way my pants are fitting now, but my weight loss is more obvious in my upper half.

I want to know what others did to even out the weight loss.  I have just been cleared to resume my exercise program, and I plan to focus on my lower body.

Anybody else got any magic for me?

Most people report the same kind of pattern, losing from the upper half and extremeties first and then from the big bottom/hip/belly area. For a while there I was several sizes different between top and bottom but its evened out "fairly" well. I still have WIDE hips though.

I'm afraid not. I had 66 inch hips pre op and still am in the 40s, even with a 32 inch waist. I wear an 8-10 blouse and 12 pants.

We all tend to lose like oompa loompas-- thinner on top, heavier on the bottom. All the loose stuff ends up low-- gravity, donchaknow.

I have lost from the top down (starting with my brain) ...it seems like I had much more to lose below the waist and that it should have been more noticeable first but nope.

I too lost from the top down, twice.  The second time was awkward for me because I was used to being anything but peared shaped.

Now,after a lower body lift, my shape problem is I have no rear or hips. My waist is only an inch and a half bigger than my hips so I can't keep my pants up.  Even my skirts are low rise.  It's funny when I dress in a skirt.  I have to remember to drop the bikini panties off wear they go, then I pull my pantyhose up high to smooth my little muffin drop.  Then I drop my skirt off somwhere in between.  LOL

I do love my narrow hips and I never had a butt, so I am happy.  Loris

Loris-

You said lower body lift.  Did you have that extreme body lift where they lift everything all at once, or did you do separate areas?

I had a lower body lift which addressed my tummy wuth muscle tightening, my butt and hips and my outer thighs.  The insicion went all around my lower body.  Good luck, Loris

My BMI was 60 plus! I used the treadmill and still use walking and stretching to exercise. As you can see by my pictures-I was EXTREMELY pear shaped!
