Ever told you have a low ejection fraction??
Hi everyone......Today is officially my end of my 6 month supervised diet.....and I think I have had every test known to man...I really like my surgeon and everyone that I have seen along the way.....I honestly feel like they are trying to help me as much as they can .....here is my problem.......after I had my 2 day stress test.....they received the report that said my ejection fraction was really low....I don't have any heart disease or blockages or any other problems other than this one....I have looked it up and don't have any of the symptoms except for fluid retention if I am not careful.....I am just so dang depressed because I am so close and now this.....don't get me wrong....I don't want to die on the table....and I understand their concern....but man ...I am almost there.....my surgeon did say that it did not necessarily mean that I couldn't have the surgery...just that they needed to check it out further....I see the cardiologist on Friday...and I am not sure of what to expect after that...more tests I am sure...
I was just wondering if any of you all had anything similar to this before surgery.....
Thanks..
Jaimee

Nope, I couldn't do the stress test because the treadmill wouldn't hold me. Instead of a chemical stress test the cardiologist opted for a heart cath - which went fine. AFTER the heart cath was another story for another day but the good news was my heart was great. You may also want to post this on the main board since more people read there and a stress test is a pretty common pre-op test.
You'll get there soon! If you do end up needing a heart cath to check things out further, its a very common procedure (more invasive/minor surgery) that you usually don't have stay overnight for or anything. Most people leave the hospital early in the afternoon and just have to limit themselves for a few days. I had an IVC filter placed at the same time, I don't know if you will be asked to get one of those.

Hi...thanks for the info....I appreciate it......I was scheduled to see the cardio on Friday....but they called and canceled it a couple of days before...they told me she was going out of town for like 4 weeks....sooo...I was a little let down by that it just seemed like it would be more time before I found out anything....but then my family doctor was able to get me in on Friday for an Echo with contrast....and you know how the techs aren't supposed to tell you anything.....well I had one that said she only took the pictures...but she would so some measurements for me while I was there....and I know it isn't official...but she told me that my fraction was 55 which is normal....she also said the cardio may gauge it a little different....but that it was no where near the 30 that the other test had shown.....my family doc had also said that she thought it was because a radiologist read the test instead of a cardio....and that they did not take into consideration how large I am and my breast tissue.....sooooooo.....I sure am hoping that the tech was right...and I am hoping that I will find something out in the next couple of days.....thanks again for the info...
