Just wondering...

I just had surgery 3 weeks ago today, and I already lost 40 pounds. (5 before surgery)  Is this normal for people who have a higher BMI?  Also, do people with a high BMI loose their hair more often than people with lower BMI's?  Just wondering what to expect.
Thanks!
Jenny

Hi Jenny,

I see Dr. White did your surgery... he did mine too!!!

I lost a lot in the first few months as well and started with a BMI in the 60's.  I do think you loose more quickly when you are larger.  My hair started falling out around the 3rd or 4th months and kept falling out until about the 9th month.  I still shed a little now, but not like earlier.  Just know that once your hair starts to fall out try not to panic... it will stop.  Just keep taking your vitamins.  I take biotin daily, not sure if it helped or not, but I figure it sure can't hurt.

Congrats on the wt loss so far, keep up the good work

Hi Caroline,

When I went to Dr. White's seminar in October, I think you were the guest speaker, am I right?  At least you look familiar to me for some reason.   Dr. White is such a great doctor, I had no complications!  Thanks for the advice, and congrats on almost reaching your goal!  Wow!

Congratulations!

I think weight loss varies with each person. I too was a fast looser.

Hair loss is also different with everyone. It's caused from a number of things, one is it's a side effect of anesthesia. I lost a lot, but I also had anesthesia 5 times in the first 6 months.

Don't worry about it if it's going to happen there is nothing you can do to stop it.

Keep up the great work!
