So, I know I should be grateful but...
It has been 5 1/2 months since surgery and I have lost 145. So I should be dancing like crazy. So here is my dilemma...it has taken me 7 weeks to love 18 pounds. When I was just sitting around it seemed like the weight was falling off way faster, but now that I am working out several times a week, it has slowed down significantly. I know I know that I have lost a ton of weight and I am so happy about the fact that I can exercise, ie; walk a couple of miles, do an hour exercise class or an hour water aerobics class. Before I struggled with walking to my car at work and was exhaused. 503 pounds to 360 pounds. I am getting 109 grams of protein a day, I am drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day, I am eating between 800-900 calories a day as this is what my NUT says I need right now. Since I still weigh what a lot of people start at, it is really frustrating for me. I have tons of size 28 on down clothes, and I still can't wear them because they are too small, so I am struggling with seeing the big picture right now. Any thoughts, words, encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks friends,
Carrie
Carrie, OMG! 145 pounds in 5 1/2 months!! You are awesome, sister!!
That in itself is an amazing victory for you, and I know you know that. You are working out good for you! You need to remember that muscle weighs more than fat, it's very possible that you are making muscle, therefore your weight loss has slowed down BUT you should be losing inches!
Did you ever measure yourself? You are at a time too when you are likely to be in a stall, it'll break, there's no way for you to be doing what you're doing and NOT loose weight!
Hang in there girl! It'll come off! You're doing great!

First, I must say congratulations and kudos to you for losing 145 pounds! That's a tremendous accomplishment that took lots of hard work! Allow yourself to celebrate that fact alone. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and think "145 pounds is gone forever" - do this for just a minute or two and I bet you will feel the corners of mouth turn upwards into an involuntary smile.
I am 4 months out and I'm in a similar situation because my body has adjusted and is now attempting to regulate metabolism more efficiently from a purely evolutionary/biological standpoint. It doesn't know, though, that I am accepting this phenomenon and making a conscious effort not to let it impact my attitude which, for me, is what drives my compliance with diet and exercise. The smaller sized clothing will wait for you. Actually, part of your frustration may be the in-between stage where everything is either just too big or too small by just tad. What I've found is that f I wear a tight layer underneath the baggier stuff (long johns, pajama bottoms, etc) that it "feels good" because now that I am more aware of my physical body, the too big clothes feel like a burden because I can't feel my body in them. Does that make any sense to you?
It's my understanding that this "4 month" thing is common, especially after talking to some wonderful women at a support group on Saturday afternoon. It's like the 3rd week stall so many talk about. It just is.
You are doing everything right by following your nuts guidelines and exercising. Try to trust the process and know that you are not alone. At the very least, *I* am right here in the same place at the same time. We'll get through this and we will succeed. I believe that!

You have done great so far!!!! Perhaps you are just in a normal stall, unfortunately we all hit them!!! Perhaps you can try to up your water intake a little bit, and that might help you get the scale moving again. You are probably losing inches also!! If you took some pics just before surgery, take some now and do a little comparison... I am sure you will see a big difference!! Just remember you have lost and entire human being already....
Keep up the good work!!!! Keep working that tool!!!
Caroline
