Hello Friends..I've Been MIA lol

I have a couple of stones the size of jawbreakers in each kidney. On Feb 10th they removed 2 from my right kidney and on Monday  they will do the left one.  They put a tube in thru my back and basically break them up, then vacuum out the residue.  They were too big to blast and then be flushed out... that much residue from their size would have really "clogged the drains" LOL
Here's the kicker....other than frequent bladder infections (which most of the time I had no symptoms of) and some mild discomfort in the back flank area...they didn't cause me any grief. However, if they ever shifted or got bigger...they could have blocked everything off and I'd be in serious trouble. So....hopefully this time my Blood pressure won't plumet and I won't need 2 blood transfusions.  Other than that, I am praying for an easier time this go around and a quicker recovery so I can start on my treadmill & back to Curves again.  I appreciate your supportive words.  Thanks!  HUGS Jeanine

I just had the same thing done on the right kidney after the large stone being dormant about 3 years.  It started giving me pain and I had to have it done.  I got NO pain control in the hospital.  Worst nurses ever. I'd take a lower body lift again, thank you.  The pain was pretty rightous until the tube came out.  I pray this one goes smooth as silk for you,  Loris

Oh geez! They held my pain meds at one point because my BP went so low..you're right the nusring care was horrible, and since I am  a nurse, I tried so hard to be tolerant and understanding but my DH got pissed when he had to remind them 4 times that I was long overdue for my pain meds. I am soooooooooooo dreading going thru all this again, but I'll tough it out. Anyway...misery loves company. LOL  HUGS  Jeanine

I had orders for 2 mg morphine every two hours.   They were giving me 2 percocet every 4 hours.  When my husband came in and asked why they said I was supposed to ask for it!  I didn't know the specifics, but saying my pain is 10++ should have gotten me reflief.  I couldn't even lift my hand.  You know as a nurse  1. keep your husband close,  2. Don't be two nice.  "what would the other patients do  3.  Each surgery is different.  This one will probably have no issue  Rmember that most of all.  I feel so much better now.  Hugs, Loris  PM if you need anything

Yeah....as if a patient who tries to sleep off the pain is able to chase nurses down for the meds they should receive on a timely basis anyway! Crap like that makes me ashamed that there are medical professionals out there who are su*****redible slackers. My DH is by my side at all times and swears THIS time he WON'T be as nice!  LOL  I'll just crawl under the sheets. Haha
