Watch that Vit D
When I went for my 2 yr check up last Sept my Vit D was still a little low with the persription 60,000 units 1 x week. But the PA said don't worry. Well my new PCP just did a vit D blood test I was feeling tired and he did a thyroid too. My thyroid was ok yahoo. But he upped my Vit D 4,000 more untis a week. I think I can tell the difference after 3 weeks. My surgeon's office only checks once as year that is not enough !!!
Might have yours checked.

I have had my Vit. D checked in January of last year and it was only 8! It is supposed to be between 30-40! I was encouraged to get it checked when I was attending the exercise classes in preparation for WLS. I was put on 50,000 IU twice a week, then after a re-check it was up to 18 so I went to once a week and then down to once a month. I am due to have my levels checked again. It has made a huge difference in how warm I feel and it made the flutters in my chest go away too. It seems that it effects everyone a little different. I believe that everyone, male or female, should have their levels checked. It is an easy test that can be added to any series of blood work when you have it done.

I fight low D levels myself, and I'm pre-op. I'm doing OK at 50,000 1 x wk, but know I'll have to watch it closely if I have a malabsorptive procedure. My shrink was the one who first suggested checking it. Those of us in the northern latitudes (esp the rainy Pacific NW) are prone to low levels. Good reminder Pam!

I started having weekly migraines 5 weeks postop. Doctor gave me meds for the migraines but I'd still have to go to bed and I couldn't do that on a weekly basis. I did some internet research and found that vitamin D deficiency could be a migraine trigger. I had them draw a D level and I was at 19 which is deficient. I started on 2000 IU/day and haven't had a migraine in 6 weeks now. They redrew my blood this morning. We'll see what it is now.
