Gym is Open - windy wednesday

It's yucky, windy and about to rain here and I had planned on wearing a skirt today.  I don't know what it is, but I hate wearing a skirt when it's raining.  But I'm going to do it anyway.  I have a board meeting today and don't want to wear pants.

I walked in to the Theatre yesterday and it is absolutely beautiful.  I work in a historic performing arts theatre that is bein renovated and expanded.  The are behind schedule, of course, and work has been a little stressful.  We've already had to reschedule 3 shows and have lost 2 others to the Civic Center.  Then I have to deal with the media asking probing questions in different ways to try an get me to give an answer about the delays.  I can't talk about the construction delays and always refer them to the City Engineering Department who is in charge of the renovation.  It's kind of fun as I listen to them try to configure the question and they are careful in their word choices and then I tell them, I can't comment on that.

But all of the historic painting has been refinished and the seats were installed into the balcony over the past few days.  I'll post some pictures later.

Will you move to lose today?

I had a killer sinus headache yesterday that kept me home from work and was the precursor to the storm that came last night..... So this morning was nice and clear with a cool breeze blowing and headache free!

I did 45 mins of bike book and me time and I feel good!
LOL

I hope you don't pull a Maralyn Monroe in that skirt Kathy!  My jumper dress went up over my waist on a windy day like this in the mall parking lot last month!  Hahahaa.

My workout plan is to sit in the recliner and pull the handle to lift my legs...once.

I'm sick and whiny.

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

LOL!  It's a straight skirt and I wore my new spanx with it today.  Since I haven't seen board members in 3 months, I got lots of compliments.  One of the guys said he didn't recognize me!

It was freezing when I came out of City Hall too.  The rain was moving in and I could see the white caps on the water in the Bay.  But skirt stayed down!

I go to my trainer tonight. The next two weeks I'm training with him Tues/Wed/Thurs because I have plans on both Saturdays (the 3rd day I normally train).

I need to be doing a lot more cardio than I'm doing. I do cardio with my trainer, but not a full 30/45 mins like I need to be doing. It's just so hard to make myself do my cardio after going to him because frankly my body can't take much more. I plan to start back doing my cardio faithfully on the opposite days I see him.

That sounds like a good plan.  Just be careful not to wear yourself out and listen to your body.

Hi, Kathy - the theater renovations sounds fabulous - look forward to seeing the pictures.

Today is my third day in a row of losing to move!  It's in the upper 50's here today and it stopped raining in mid-morning.  So I went to the park and walked with a friend for 30 minutes at lunch.  Although it was cloudy and a bit windy, it felt so nice to be outside.

Thanks for keeping the gym open -

Kellie

Patti -
I just want to say that as a fellow swimmer - I admire you!  You know how much I love my water aerobics and workouts.  Lap swimmg is SO good for us, and helps to burn LOTS of calories.  You have to keep a pretty good pace to do a standard lap (25) yards and keep it consistant at 1 min per lap, with breaks each ten.  You are strengthing those arms, legs and core, along with building long, lean muscle.  Keep it up girl.  I love the feeling of swimming laps and mixing up my strokes, but I get so BORED swimming laps.  I have to do little things to keep myself focused and keep the endurance going.  I want to get one of the iPod shuffles with the water proof headphones that you can use for swimming laps.  I think that would help me not to get bored.  Also, having something like the masters swimming program where you do so many laps of free, and back, breast, arms, legs only, etc helps too.  I have found that my swimming time is also a great time for prayer.  I can pray while I swim and just have lots of time to talk with God.

Anyway, I wanted to encourage you to keep going with the swimming.  I know on the cold mornings, it can be hard to get motivated, and the thought of needing an extra shower or more getting ready time, etc. can be a put off, but girl - I'm impressed by your swimming!

Hugs,
Jennie

Hi Jennie!

Glad to see you posting from the recliner!

I agree - I love the cardio feel when I really get going. And it is like flying when I use my big fins. My Mom used to swim too - in fact she was my first teacher. She was a lifeguard and WSI. Me, just a motel pool lifeguard and swim team relay swimmer.

I now like to swim mostly with a snorkle and mask. That way I don't have to turn my head to breathe and ge****er in my ears. Also, if I have to cough, I can - I can even breathe off-stroke too if I get SOB, which does not happen as much lately.

I do mix up strokes a bit. On the breaks, I swap equipment & drink Crystal Lite.

1st 10 - Snorkle & mask only, 4 free, 1 breast, 4 free, 1 breast

2nd 10 - Add small fins & hand paddles, 4 free, 1 breast arms w/ dolphin kick (repeat)

3rd set - Same

4th set - Switch to big fins, same seq (hard to do breast kick in fins)

5th set - Back to small fins

Extra - 2-4 lengths of walking/jogging
2-4 lengths of backstroke with fins only

I want one of the water tune gadgets too. I love to let my mind wander when I'm doing laps. I sometimes puzzle out work problems or just meditate. At times I've considered one of those home pools where you swim against a current. I like to close my eyes and just feel the cardio, but don't like to do that for too long lest I veer off course. I bet you could do that in a current pool.

Prayers for your healing. I have thought of you often lately.
