dumb question

I have a question. Is liquid diet the same as pureed diet? I'm still pre-op and trying to add interest and variety to the liquid phase.

nope.  there is:
Pre-op diet: varies but is often clear liquids + protien shakes
Clear liquids (usually sugar free): broth, crystal light, propel, sf popcycles, sf jello
Full (or regular) liquids: same as above + protien shakes, creamy soups, oatmeal, cream of wheat
Pureed or mushies: all above + mashed potatoes, pureed foods
regular: anything but add slowly

no carbonation, avoid high cal "slider" foods like ice cream

I beg your pardon - THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!

No they aren't the same - and, unfortunately there isn't a way to add a lot of variety to the liquid.  Have you used the beef, chicken and vegetable broths you can buy in a box (Swanson)?  They now have beef and chicken stock which has a little more flavor.  Add bullion granules to the broths (or stocks) and that adds more flavor.

I wasn't allowed oatmeal and cream of wheat on FULL liquids.  That was on my puree diet.

(I LOVE sf popsicles!)  ;)

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

I think it's best to follow YOUR doctor's instructions. Did you get a pre-op as well as post-op handout from your doc or nutritionist? If not, call on Monday and ask for the info. Until then, I'd play it safe.

I flavor my protein shakes with either DeVinci brand sugar free syrup or with one tablespoon of sugar free pudding mix. By mixing flavors you can create all kinds of tastes. Try a shake with  a tablespoon of butter scotch pudding mix and a teaspoon of pumpkin spice and it tastes like pumpkin pie. Use apple sugar free syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg and you have apple pie (sometime I just blend in sugar free apple sauce). Now a spoon of Sugar Free Hot Chocolate mix and a spoon of PB2 (powdered sugar free no fat peanut butter which you can find on line) and you are almost in heaven. Now for that trip to heaven try either of these, a spoon of sugar free chocolate mix and sugar free raspberry preserves, or shredded coconut.
Hope this helps

PS.
There are no dumb questions here. We all are on a journey, and all real journeys have an element of the unknown.
