And by the way, yes, sometimes the SURGERY fails the patient. How horrible of you to try to blame every failed WLS patient for their own regain when mechancical failures are the cause of regain in many cases. Way to show RESPECT for people struggling with regain.

If stats were meaningless, they wouldn't exist. If you had a disease and someone offered you a treatment with a 64% cure rate and another treatment option with a 98.9% cure rate, which would you choose?

I called it like I saw it AND like many African Americans have EXPERIENCED Racism. No, no one wants to be called a "Racist" but when you post hateful statistics that basically say that YOU will fail WLS because you are African American (if you don't get the DS) and NO other factors; when someone gives that article to an African American and reiterates it and hope for failure, and when someone tries to tear down a group of people for their own economical benefit or gratification>>>That person IS RACIST!  Someone posted that hateful article on the BAF Board and it got the Proper Attention it deserved. WE (African Americans) called it what it is, RACIST. From where I sit and have experienced, she (Diana COX) is Racist and that article is DS Propoganda. Just because a person does something "Good" for a person of another ethnicity does not mean that they are not racist; after all, white people in the south built colleges for blacks via land grants...They were STILL racist...they did it for their OWN economic benefit. We all know, statistics are most times taken to prove the investigator's point. Maybe YOU and that Diana Cox also believe that Blacks are " Inherently Mentally Inferior" to white people, I can show you articles and research SATISTICS on that too. I am looking at outward actions and the words  written to tell me what a racist is. If you think it is not decent of me to call a racist a racist...then no Black person has a right to call it like we see and experience it. If a person is not a Racist in their heart, then their Actions and Words should follow suit!

That article and Diana Cox are saying that AA probably won't  SUCCEED at WLS because of our Inferior Ethnicity, but that We may succeed if we get the DS. That's like saying that I will get diabetes because my father had it. What about my ability and determination to eat right, exercise, ...so no one can over come "genetic" markers (what about people who get it with NO family history)...That IS A LIE Straight Out Of HELL.  If someone gets all up in arm's because a Black Person calls someone a racist, maybe they should check themselves out, I don't care if you are white or black, I have found that there is usually something behind it!


You do not have to use these hateful tactics to get Blacks to listen to your "pitch" about the DS. DS is NOT for Me, I have listed My reasons why RNY IS for Me. So why attack people that DO NOT agree with you on a personal level, don't we all have a right to our opinion, not just DSers. Because of the attitude of DSers, I am telling everyone I meet now or contact on these boards, stay away from the DS, something about that surgery turns you into a straight up Biotch, maybe it's because after several months they know that they are STUCK with that BAD Decision for Life and they are trying to make the best out of a Bad Situation. Bottom Line: When someone else talks a person into something, and the person did not feel it from the Heart, they WILL have Buyer's Remorse. Just like with a car, if the sales-person's HARD pitch persuaded you to buy a car you didn't want, everyday you come out the house and look at it makes one more and more hateful, after a while they just have to make the best out of it...that might even mean start saying it's the best car in the world and they got stats to prove it (Misery Loves Company!)

Fact is, there ARE certain physical/physiological differences between races (not just black and white, but hispanic, Asian, etc.). That doesn't make any one better than the other--just different.

I believe you are a petty, horrible person for telling people to stay away from the DS. It could be the best surgery choice for them, and they may fail with other procedures. Congratulations on potentially convincing someone to do something that will NOT work for them in the long run.

And if you'd ever actually read on the DS board, you would know that it is an extremely helpful, supportive, close-knit group. I can attest to that! At 2 years and 5 months I am still loosing (a couple of pounds every few months) and the malapsorption part of my surgery is working VERY nicely!!!

As to the claim that some people say that this is an unhealthy way to eat, you are right...for YOU. For us it is very healthy. So much so that my cardiologist recommended the surgery to his daughter after meeting me and doing some research on the surgery.

BTW - statistics are NOT racist, and by no means worthless.  It's the only thing you can count on to get realistic expectations.  There's a reason they have actuaries and courses in statistics and DPMO's.  If you paid attention past the 10th grade, maybe you'd have grasped that.

You're stupidity has nothing to do with Diana's sense of racism.  I don't think you're smart enough for the DS anyway.  You'd probably malnourish yourself and not listed to nutritional recommendations, so you're better off with the "fire-hot" reactions.
