I go in for my Lap RNY on Monday (2/9). Just curious how long some of you post-ops were actually in surgery?
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I was right at 2 1/2 hours because she had to work around mesh that was put in when my entire abs had to be reinforced for a 10 inch hernia repair.  My C sections all used the same incision and after 5 yrs it basically just tore the muscle apart and had to be rebuilt inside. (ouch)

She was able to do my RNY lap and it was so easy compared to other abdominal surgeries that I had.

Good luck to you!!!

Huge hugs,
Tracy

Phew! thank for the information. I had read some old literature that was showing operating time at around 4.5 hours for Lap RNY. Obviously VERY old information!

Hi! I go in for my  Lap RNY on Wednesday (2/11) and I was curious about the same thing. They said at pre-op that the surgery would be 3-4 hours.... Sounds like it will be more on the side of 3 than four. I was hopeful for 2-3 myself. :-) Thanks for the asking the question and for the answers!

A little more than an hour lap. Overall between when they wheeled me in and when I was awake enough for family to see me it was about 3 hours.

4-5 hours. So long that they bailed on the cholecystectomy and I had to have it a year later.
