OK, so I have a big night tonight.  I was asked by my bariatric coordinator to speak at the support group tonight as a "success story".  I said yes about 2 months ago, I was feeling pretty confident then.  I haven't been feeling that way lately.

My weight loss has just about halted, I still love my RNY, just don't love myself right now.  I feel like I should have been exercising harder the last few weeks, eating less, all that sort of stuff.  I was really hoping to be below 200# by now, I am at 204#.  I want to sound successful to all the patients, I just have to convince myself of that TODAY!!!

I have put together a power point presentation with my pictures along the way, and a few wow moments, and that has helped a little bit.

Sorry if I am rambling, but it sorts feels good to talk about all this right now

Thanks

Caroline

Focus on the positives!!! You have lost 140 pounds in less than a year. You feel great (overall) and you look great! If you had not done the RNY where would you be right now?

Tell them why you chose to have surgery and why you think it is still the best choice for you. And then ask them if they have any questions or have heard anything that they want to know is true/false.

I think you are the perfect candidate to speak at the support group.  In addition to having such a successful journey thus far, you are normal and right now feeling a bit down.  I would address that in some way with the group because in reality this journey is not all about the fun of WLS - to admit that there are rocky times only makes you more real to those people waiting on baited breath to hear about WLS.  Good Luck!

If your group is anything like mine, there is not many people who start off with a BMI over 50.  You have done so well with your surgery, you eat properly, exercise and even though it's slowed down, it's not stopped.

The photos will speak for you for sure.

I think you'll do a great job, just be yourself!
