Heartburn / acid reflux
Lately I've been feeling like I'm experiencing heartburn. Minor burning sensation up the esophagus along with minor discomfort in upper stomach, lower chest and mid back (it's not chest PAIN). Some days milk helps and some days tums helps. Before the surgery my surgeon said I would never have reflux again. Anyone have any experience with symptoms like this? Can an unhappy gallbladder cause symptoms like this? I still have mine, despite the fact that I had stones before surgery. Oh yeah, I seemed to have a reactive hypoglycemic "event" on Sunday and my blood sugar dropped to 63.
I do have my 1 year appt in 2 weeks.
Thanks,
Dawn

Acid reflux is very uncommon. I'm glad you have an appointment scheduled. You may need to go back on an acid reducer if you have some irritation in your pouch.
My gallbladder symptoms were not acid - it was pain in the left side and up the back, along with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Everyone is different though. I'd be more concerned about an early ulcer or something along those lines. Your pouch makes little to no acid.

The whole thing is just very vague which makes it harder to diagnose. Last night I had an Edy's SF pop and ended up with "heartburn" and then when I took my liiquid Calcium, it actually burned in the esophagus (not the throat). I'm thinking esophagitis (a common thing in my former life) at that point, but it takes acid to cause that.
I have been trying to eat a very bland diet (which is easier when you can eat carbs!). I guess I'll keep journaling the symptoms.
Thanks...
