Happy Surgi-Versary to me !!

Hi Everyone... I absolutely can not believe that my 1 year surgi-versary was yesterday. I tell everyone. The time leading up to your surgery is soooooooo slllllllllow but afterward, it's like you're on this huge slide and the next thing you know, you blink your eyes and it's been a year already.

Yesterday while taking a Yoga/ ThiChi and Pilates class at the gym, at the very end while we were relaxing all I could think about what that exactly 1 year ago at that time I was at the hospital being preped for surgery. Wow.... things sure do change in a year. Last year I would have never even attempted a class like that, I never would have been able to bend over and put my hands flat on the floor or get onto a single one of those poses.

This past year has been one of starting to learn who the real Lisa is. The first 6 months when the weight was just sliding off was a breeze... These past 6 months when the weight loss slowed down and I actually had to start working at it... Not so much... But I have learned so much about myself.

One of the main things I've learned is that I don't have all of the answers. That since a very young age I've used food as my friend, my lover, my confidant. Food eased the pain, the lonliness and dried my tears. Fat on the other hand kept me feeling safe and secure. With all of the fat surrounding me, I was able to wander though life virtually unnoticed. But I've learned that to be a sucess I can not have either in my life. So I've had to say a long good bye to food and to my fat. Food is only allowed in when it's nourishing my body. If it's falsely comforting my mind and soal, it's not allowed.

I am so looking forward to see what this next year brings.. I do know that I will do everything in my power to use this tool (and we all know it's only a tool) to my greatest ability and I will be sucessful.

Wow you look AMAZING!! what a difference a year can make. My surgery is scheduled for 3/17/09 and im a ball of nerves. I cant wait to be on the losers bench and you are truly inspiring!! you give me hope!!

That was so sweet of you.... You will do fine. Just remember that this is only a tool and not a cure. I have to remind myself of that daily. Next year at this time will be a whole new world for you. Enjoy the ride because it's absolutely fabulous.
