Luna - What are Other Carbs?
I have been trying to find things I can keep on hand at work and so have been giving protein bars another try. I grabbed a couple Luna bars because they have such different flavors (Lemon Zest and Chocolate Peppermint Stick caught my eye).
Sadly, I had the Lemon Zest today and it was YUMMY. But there are only 10g of protein and 26g of Carbs...and I am confused with how they break down their carbs.
3g Dietary Fiber
1g Insoluble Fiber
13g Sugars
10g Other Carbs
Other carbs? That can't be good can it?
I am so sick of chocolate and peanut butter flavored bars. How evil are these Luna bars?

That's a lot of sugar. It could be wheat or dairy bringing the total to 26...not really sure how all that works out. I know what you mean about sick of chocolate and all that, there is a pretty good apple bar...I'll go google some brands and see if I can find it for you...It's lower in sugar. I just can't remember which brand it was. I have been "OFF" pro bars since I puked one a while ago...you know how that goes.
EDIT~ Found it...ATKINS! I should have known. These suckers are hard to find around here but good. 1gm sugar. 11 gms protein. 14gms carbs.

I looked at the ingredients for the Lemon Zest and can't figure it out. They are all organic, so out the window goes the thought that it may be sugar alcohols!
The South Beach Diet has fewer calories for the same 10G of protein. They are high protein cereal bars. 140 calories for 10 G protein. They also have meal replacement bars that have 20G protein, but I still can't eat a whole one at one sitting.
If sodium is not an issue for you, beef jerky is a really good, high protein, low calorie staple that needs no refrigeration. Nuts are pretty good, but high in fat. I always have boars head deli meats because they don't have preservatives in them.
Greek yogurt is also a good snack...high protein, low fat if you buy the 0% or 2%.
