How can I weight myself at home?
So I'm at the start of my journey to getting my life back. My problem though is that right now I can't weigh myself at home. I don't have a scale (that was purposeful up to now) but now I want one. I suspect I will have to lose some weight prior to surgery so I need to have a scale at home to know that I'm on track.
At my last weight check I was 425lbs. I haven't found an affordable home scale that goes that high. Do you have any suggestions?
The other day I watched Ruby on TV and I saw that they weighed her at the gym on 2 scales. Does that work? If I were to buy 2 normal scales and add the two together is that accurate?
Thanks so much for your help!

I had the Duodenal Switch! Do yourself a favour and check out www.dsfacts.com - especially if your BMI is over 50!
HW: 426/SW: 421/CW: 165/ GW: 150 Current BMI is 26.6!

Once you get down to about 380, it looks like there are several models on Amazon that would work.
Every scale is different. Nothing you buy will be the same as what they have in the doc's office. I can guarantee that you'll weigh at home, then drive to the docs and magically weigh 5 pounds more, even though you went to the bathroom and didn't stick anything in your mouth on the way over.
Just don't weigh yourself everyday! It will make you nuts.
Good luck.

Actually there are a lot of studies coming out that says we should weigh in every day..my surgeon suggests it as well. There was an article in prevention as well as an article a few weeks ago that surveyed those in the National Registry that lost over 100 pounds and have kept it off for over a year...the secret to sucess was weighing in every day.
Interesting...
You just have to make sure you don't let it affect your attitude of motivation.
14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey. I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.
My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once. I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

Best of luck in your journey :)

The 2 scale thing doesn't work well.
I tried it and it was very difficult to get them to stop long enough to get the weight.
I guess it was from my alternating my weight from leg to leg.
Here is one for about $65 that goes to 550.

I have a Homemedics scale that goes to 330. It's ten years old and weighs me 10-12 pounds heavier than my surgeons does...which is odd because I am buck neeekid on it at home and fully clothed (sans shoes) at the surgeons check ups. It's always a nice surprise to see what I'll weigh ad there though.
I need a new scale someday.
