Getting Excited...and nervous!
I met with my surgeon on Thursday and my paperwork has been submitted to my insurance... Now it is a matter of getting approval and doing my pre-op testing. Just waiting on the insurance is driving me insane however.
Anyone have any insight into how long before they COULD respond? My surgeon told me I have to have a CPAP machine and use it regularly for at least 2 weeks before he will operate, and I am waiting on the medical supply company to get me hooked up with that -- but he has told me I can start my liquid diet as soon as I have used it for a week -- does this mean I might be only a couple of weeks from surgery?
I am sooo ready for this!!! I am about to go back to researching and finally order my chewable vitamins, calcium, etc.

I do have sleep apnea. I was diagnosed a few weeks ago because the surgeon said I needed the study done, and such... I have to have a chest x-ray, ekg, and physical less than 21 days before the surgery... and my pre-op is done!
Now if I could just decide exactly what vitamins to order! I am leaning toward bariatric advantage, just because this was the first one on my NUT's list... anyone have any advice on taste? I also need to get calcuium, and would like to start biotin pretty early on as soon as the surgeon says I can/should...
I know alot of you take iron, and more, how do I know if I should take the extras?

Hey Angie!!
Welcome!!! It took my insurance less than a week to approve my paperwork. I had to wear that damn cpap before surgery and when I was in recovery (I had to bring my mask) they put it on me anytime I was sleeping.
I would hold off on getting the vitamins. Your tastes are going to change drastically after surgery. I use the Celebrate Chewables and love them. I bought some of the baratric advantage before surgery and when it was time for me to start my vitamins I hated them. I started my vitamins 6 days after surgery after my drain was pulled and they had me add one per day and work up to my schedule to make sure I tolorated them.
I called celebrate and they gave me samples of all of their chewables - so I got to try them post surgery and made sure I could tolorate them. Also, see if you can get samples of protein shakes before you stock up. I bought a ton of protein before surgery (I had to do a hellaious preop diet) and I ended up getting rid of all of it because it tasted like crap after surgery. Vitalady.com offers protein samples.
HTH!! Good luck to you!!
