I second the Benadryl recommendation.

Although I prefer a muscle relaxer, Benadryl works like a charm & they are available OTC.

Jan, during one of my hospital stays a couple of years ago, they gave me Ambien.  It did not help me sleep, but it gave me very, very disturbing thoughts.  I can see why people do weird stuff or feel suicidal when they take it.

When I take Tylenol PM, I get up in the middle of the night and eat.  It must have something to do with the sleep patterns being disrupted by the medicine or something.

Tylenol PM or any type of PM stuff gives me the jitters really bad, I can't take the stuff.

I always think it must feel like what a drug addict needing a fix goes through. Every nerve in my body tingles and twitches!

Ambien dreams are so bizzare!
