Feedback from Immunization Coordinator
I happened to run into the Immunization Coordinator on my way into the building this morning. How's that for kismet? I felt awkward only because I looked like the Crypt Keeper (I'm too lazy to put on my face at home, I wait until I get to work, and I'm here so early that I don't usually see someone I know).
We had a nice chat, and I feel much better now. She said again that I was an exceptional candidate and it wasn't any weakness in my application or anything lacking during the interview. It was a matter of where they wanted to take the position in terms of actual, hands-on private practice experience, since the gig involves a lot of interaction with private docs. When she said this, I knew immediately that she hired a pediatric nurse from a doctor's office. I certainly can't blame her for that, if you can get an RN for the salary the gig offered, I'd go for it, too.
She again encouraged me to apply for other gigs that might come up (and with the new administration, I expect more federal health dollars to start flowing to states, this happened when Clinton took office).
Thanks for all the kind words, I felt really demoralized and your messages and suggestions helped me a lot. I wasn't going to call her back at first, but you all suggested I talk to her, and I'm truly glad I did. You guys rock!
