Anyone try for a free afternoon swim at a hotel?

I'm really new to this forum. Thought you'd have the answer. Someone at my bariatric life skills support group mentioned that she had luck going to a hotel in the early afternnoon and asked them if they would allow her to swim for exercise in their pool. She doesn't live near me and so I don't know if it has happened before at where I live. She said that she explained that she would not be there in the evening or on the weekends exposing herself to the curious eyes and the snickers, and not exposing the others to a non-paying very large swimmer. She did this before surgery and will resume it again after surgery. She explained her hesitation at joining the local gym for this purpose. Has anyone else done this or have any experience in asking? I thought it was a brilliant idea and maybe will get the guts up to do it after I can go in the water after my surgery. I live in the frozen north where swimming is 8 weeks outside in the summer. What do you think?

Sorry cant help you as I have never tried this.

I do know that a hotel near my cousin has open swim hours where you pay to swim.
