2 week PS post-op f/u

I had my first post-op appt today w/ my plastic surgeon's office.  Two of my drains were pulled (yeah!), and the two that are still draining a lot (70+ ccs per day) were left in place.  The surgeon said everything looks good, my swelling is normal, and that the darker red drainage from my right arm is also perfectly normal.

It already feels better with 2 drains rather than 4, and I'm just happy that things are progressing normally, even if it's slower than I'd like.  I have another appointment next Monday and I'm hoping at least one of the other drains will have slowed down enough to be pulled - would be great if they can both come out, but I'll just have to wait and see!

Anyway, that's my update - hope everyone is doing well!

I'll bet that buyers remorse from this weekend got a whole lot better after getting 2 drains removed.  I know you were glad to get rid of them.

Hope all else is going well and that you continue to heal quickly.

Getting 2 drains pulled definitely helped my buyer's remorse fade into the background a bit.  I had 2 drains coming out of the same hole in each armpit, so it was just super uncomfortable.  Feels so much better now, and I'm so grateful.  Everything else is going okay - getting a little stir crazy being cooped up at home, but all in all it's going well :-)

Best wishes for a fabulous New Year!!!

Oh thank God...I didn't read that you said F/u and instead thought you had the FLU.  I know this recovery has been rough but at least I was wrong and you DON'T have the flu!  Happy New Year!!

Oh, boy, that makes 2 of us that are glad I don't have the FLU!  I have a good friend who got stuck in Colorado b/c he has an intestinal flu and can't be more than 4 steps from the bathroom; I can't imagine having that going on on top of recovering from surgery!!!

Happy New Year to you as well, Clinell - I keep reading your updates on facebook about enjoying the night lift in New Orleans - sounds like a great time!  Perhaps you can show me around if I make it down there on vacation some time soon!!!

I would absolutely love to show you around NOLA.  I love going out and plan to do so again this weekend in celebration of my birthday.  It has been years since I have gone out for my birthday and one of my resolutions is not to let the years go by without celebrating it in true fashion - dancing!

Thanks, Diane!  I think I'm going to be super happy with my results, esp. considering what I looked like before plastics.  I'm looking forward to wearing sleeveless shirts this summer!

And as far as being brave, I have two words for you:  narcotic painkillers.  Bravery, you see, comes in pill form in a small bottle.  As long as the pain is managed, I can handle pretty much anything.  Plus I have a great support network in my family and friends, and that makes a huge difference in knowing I can get through tough times.

Take care and have a great New Year!!!
