New Years Resolution
Ok Girlies, I have been MIA for a few months but I am back. I talked to Kathy a few days ago and she really made me think about what I was doing. Thanks Kathy
you are a sweetie!! Ok this is sucky but I am starting over. I gained about 10lbs over the holidays. I am getting ready for the new year a little early because I can't wait any longer. Since I started working last month I have been eating out a lot because of my wierd schedule. Lots of Jr Cheeseburgers or chili or chicken nuggets. all easy to eat and full of fat. My New Years Resolution is to pack my lunch and snacks the morning before ( I usually work 8p-4a or 12a-8a). I have lost alot of weight but I still feel yucky because of what I am feeding my body. I went to the store last night and got stuff to pack my lunch and I am ready to go!!!

Good resolution. Its easy to fall into bad habits again. I've certainly had my moments of shame with fast food too, and you are right, it makes you feel icky. It also seems to be addicting.
My resolution has nothing to do with weight (for the first time in years). I resolve that I will finish my PhD this year.

I am with you on this one. I have struggled through the holidays also. I am also going to get my act together. We have come to far to slip back into those old ways. I am with Jenn, stress has taken a toll on me & I am with you, too as I have been allowing myself to go to the fast food places. Easier? Yes. Worth it? NO!
Let's help each other through this.
Thanks!

There are healthy things to eat at fast food. I do it a bunch! My lunch of choice is a grilled chicken sandwich or grilled salad. With the sandwich, there's no way I can eat all the chicken and both pieces of bread. I pull off the bun and use the lettuce or tomato as the top bun and eat it that way.
For the salad, I usually choose the balsamic vinagrette and I don't put the salad dressing on the salad. I open it up and dip my fork into the salad dressing for every bite (Old Richard Simmons tip), and I usually use less than 1/2 of the salad dressing.
Another great, healthy option is Wendy's chili. About 200 calories and 17 g of protein.
I had the hardest time getting over the fact that I would pay $4+ for just the chicken sandwich and not get any fries or a drink with that, but for my body, I just pay it and don't think about it. One good thing is that at Wendy's you can get the chili for a side and save it for tomorrow's lunch! And drink the unsweetened tea later after your food's digested.
I eat fast food 2-3 times a week for lunch. One of my other new favorites is the $5 footlong from Subway. I get roasted chicken breast on honey-wheat bread. I do get cheese. When I get back to the office, I pull off the top of the bun and fold the other half of the bread over. It's about 20g of protein and I haven't been able to remember the calories without the top of the bun. But I get lunch for 2 days for $5.
So, yes you can eat fast food for lunch, you just need to stay away from the cheeseburgers (full of fat and not enough protein for the number of calories you get) and steer towards the grilled chicken sandwiches.
My tummy is still gassy from all the crap I tried this weekend. I'm ready to purge all this crap out of my body.
I'm proud of you for realizing that you were heading in the right direction. Now, get prepared with your lunches or make better choices at the fast food. I am not a preparation person so I had to learn what was best for me to eat.
