Still having those weird "attacks" has anyone else ever had this happen?
I thought it was my heart. I went to the dr, er and then did an at home holter monitor. They all came back fine though. Hummnnn...
It's been happenening again, a weird "fluttery" feeling in my chest and a odd head feeling followed by rapid heart beat. It mostly happens at night and was BAAAAd last night and the night before. Could this be some kind of adreneline release? That's what it feels like. I used to get shots of it for asthma as a kid and it's a weird scary startled feling. Like someone snuck up behind me and yelled "BOO!". I am completely relaxed and usually laying down when it happens. I am at my wit's end here guys. The Dr's can't find anything and it keeps happeneing!
Dehydration? Ketosis? Constipation? Not enough protien going in? I am trying to explain it away with thoughts like these, but I have no idea. It's scaring the STUFF out of me. My WLS Dr thinks it's unrelated to WLS but I think it might be...what do I know though.

I get these once in a while. It almost feels like an anxiety attack for me...like an outer body experience, then racing heart, flushed, etc. I had these when I was in my teens, but they went away. I've had it happen 4 times since surgery and I can relate them to being dehydrated or not having enough fluids on all occasions.
But still keep searching for an answer.

Hey Stella,
This happens to me too, sometimes I can relate it to something I've eaten and sometimes I can't. I'll just be sitting minding my own business and my heart will start to race. I also get the weird 'fluttery' feeling. I have made sure to keep my protein to at least 50 grams a day and usually I get closer to 60. I almost always get two liters down a day. I'm not sure what is causing it either. I guess I'm hoping it's just a temporary adjustment or something. I haven't notice an "odd head feeling" but I'm odd in the head to begin with...... :0)

I've experienced this for years. It is always worse during PMS. It could be your upper GI tract spasming too. That was a possible explanation I got. Does it happen with certain food? It always made me very anxious but now I just ignore it. I know, easier said than done.
Out of curiosity, when you had the holter monitor on, did you have an "attack" and push the button on the monitor? If you didn't have an "attack" while wearing the monitor, you might need to wear it longer.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Well that's another story. The stupid monitor wasn't on the 1st time I wore it,when I has a few "events" It was automatic and would record what was going on without pushing anything....If they had TURNED IT ON!
I went back and had #2 put on a week later (last week) and of course nothing at all happened. Ugh.
An hour after I posted his I went to the AfterCare facility at my PCp. They got me on the EKG (no monitors available at night I guess)Anyway, it showed a really weird irregular heartbeat. They did it 3 times to be sure. I have to go see my PCP tomorrow and get a referral for a cardiologist now.
I did a protein shake when I got home (THANKS AGAIN HEATHER!!!) and it stopped! Is that a coincidence? I really have been neglecting protien in a bad, bad way lately. I've been busy. (excuses, excuses...there is no excuse) I think I'll work on hydration and protein and see how that goes...until my cardio appt.
