I'm HOME!!!
Hello everyone!
Surgery was November 21 and was somewhat eventful. I ended up having a few complications. I was severely dehydrated and ended up needing blood transfusions. Without all the gore----it is over and I am home. I stayed with my aunt for a wee****il I felt as if I could stand on my two feet. Aside from being a little tired, I am glad to be home. I eneded up coming home 21 pounds heavier.(All the fluids they had to put in me)
I am doing well so far, but as many, I struggle to get in liquids and protein. What suggestions can you share? Also, I really hate the chewable iron I was given. What do you use?
So glad to be back to this site, it has been such a huge help and inspiration.

Glad to hear your doing better now! Sorry you had some rough times.
I was never told I had to get a certain amount of protein in per day, in fact when I told my DR that everyone here said I should be getting such and such amounts, she laughed. She said I don't want you forcing yourself to eat, I want you loosing weight! So best I can tell you is follow your Dr's rules, we all know how different they are.
Fluids are much more important, especially if you were dehydrated. Sip, sip, sip all the time. I remember always having a water bottle in my hand. When I'd get up at night to use the bathroom I'd force myself to drink.
Try a different chewable if you don't like yours. Chewable's are important because your body starts absorbing them right away. Force yourself to take them. I can't stress how important vitamins are!
Welcome back and best wishes!

I am sooo sorry you had some complications... I was very fortunate not to have any.
My doctor told me in the beginning not to worry too much about protein, just to drink, drink, drink.
Enjoy this time because the weight will just be falling off..(as well as some hair..sorry)
Good luck and keep us posted.

Sorry to hear you had some many complications! But glad you are home now and feeling better.
SF popsicles are great!!!! they are my "snack" lifesaver! Sorry no suggestionso n the chewable iron. Can you mix it in with a popsicle - maybe break the popsicle up and mix the chewable in with it.

Glad to hear you are home and doing better. Right now I would concentrate on fluids - I used Nectar Fuzzy Navel (it counted as my water and protein) and I used the IDS Whey bullets - one bullett is 42 gms of protein. I would take 1.5 oz in the am and 1.5 oz in the pm. My hubby would use a timer (sureregon recommended 1 oz over 15 min) and he would give me a medicine cup of fluid and I would drink it over the 15 minutes. I ended up getting all of my fluid in over the day and not feel like I was drowning.
As for vitamins - I use the Celebrate Chewables. I love their chewable Iron (its grape flavor).
Good Luck.

Thanks for the all the well wishes!!! I have done well eating and seem to be able to drink more at one time than I thought. I am concentrating on drinking more slowly--especially with the protein. I have found the I like instant carnation, but it doesn't yield much protein.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

Hi Chista,
Sorry to hear that you had a rough start. At least you are on your way now. Take it easy, and rest when your body tells you to rest. I used the carnation instant breakfast for a long time too, and just added my own protein powder to it. Once you are a little farther out, start experimenting with the carnation. I used to get the del monte peaches in water and blend that into the carnation...yummy!!!
Hope you enjoy your holidays!!
