One-Year Surgiversary today
So...one year ago today, I was all by myself (well without Karl) sick, dehydrated from icky diarrahea all night long and strangely calm waiting to have my surgery. My surrogate mother was there with me along with Karl's mother. My associate pastor came and prayed with me as well as my pastor called and said prayers with be before surgery. Kris texted me to ask if I was in surgery yet (LOL!) and he showed up just before they took me in.
A good friend of mine, who's a surgical nurse, scrubbed in to be there with me before surgery. They wheeled me in to the Operating Room and I can still remember her telling me that Jesus was there with me. I figured I would be nervous but I had a strange sense of peace.
I was 371 pounds and fat and miserable. I hated to move. I hated to climb the stairs to go to bed. My bones ached. My knees ached. I ate like a freaking pig and hid it from everyone. It was normal for me to eat McDonalds for Breakfast, Lunch and a snack on the way home from work most days of the week. I didn't wear my seatbelt in my car becuase it didn't fit. I was lazy and hated to move.
I wore a 4X shirt and like a 30/32 pants and those were stretch pants. Size 10W shoes and looked liked a ...well, I won't go on.
Fast forward 365 days...
I now weigh 247 - a loss of 127 pounds. I have less than 100 pounds to reach Dr. L's ridiculous goal of 135 pounds. I've lost 26 inches on breasts, hips and thighs since april. Don't know about pre-surgery as I didn't measure.
I work out at least 4 days a week. This is the biggest accomplishment in my mind because I was a lazy pig! I actually enjoy going to the gym. Yeah sometimes it's painful, but I feel so good afterwards. I have energy now and can walk and walk and walk. I used to stop at every bench in the mall or in Walmart. I have muscle tone and am so much stronger.
I'm wearing a Large shirt and size 18 pants. Shoes are between a 9 and a 9.5 depending.
Marriage is great, work is great, life is great. I really have no complaints. Would I like to have been at 150 pounds lost? Of course, but I'll take 127!
I can wear my car seatbelt
I don't need an extender for airplanes
Worrying about booth seating is a thing of the past
I don't think about food all the time now - which is awesome
I still have that great FULL feeling after eating 3/4 - 1 cup of food.
I have completed a 5K in 45 minutes
I exercise 4-5 days a week
My skin and hair look great
Sex is really fun now!
Hmmm...I could go on and on.
So would I recommend this surgery to others? I'll answer that with a resounding "HELL YEAH!!!"
