WLS think abdominal pain is due to plastic surgery

For a month I have been having achy dull pain in my right abdomin between my naval and hip.  It is not in any way a nerve type pain that I have experienced with plastic surgery.  I have had an abdominal and pelvis CT scan with contrast which was all clear.  My GI doc thinks it's scar tissue with a possible twisted bowel.  My WLS, considering that I am not in a lot of pain, thinks it is subcutaneous scar tissue from my PS.  The pain in not near my incisions, but over muscles of course.  Do you know anyone who has experienced this?  My WLS tried to pin it down by numbing me in the area to see if it would show it is indeed nerve pain from PS scar tissue.  I didn't notice any difference.  Thanks, Loris

I don't know what to tell you but I did have scar tissue and a twisted bowel. The pain was severe. It started as a gassy bloated feeling with some nausea and quickly turned into severe pain and the inability to hold anything down, including water. It doesn't sound like what you are having at all. Sometimes a bowel can repeatedly twist and untwist or be partially occluded but I still think MOST people report the bloated gassy blocked feeling to at least some extent along with pain. Did they do a barium contrast study or anything?

No they haven't, just the CT with contrast.  At the time they were thinking appendix.  My stomach was very distended last night.  Bloating is hard for me to detect because I am so tight from my plastic surgery.  The pain is not very bad.  Nothing like what people describe with twisted bowels, etc.  I do know to treat it as an emergency in it gets severe.  Thanks!  Loris

So what is the doc's plan?   Seems like this needs to be pursued.

I've had years of experience with docs just leaving me hanging, so it's a pet peeve of mine.  If he doesn't have a plan, are you going to advocate for a plan?

Good luck with this, I'm sure it is frustrating and a bit scary at times.

He told me to call him in a week.  My GI doc told me to follow through with him after I saw the WLS.  No one has "dismissed" me.  I am frustrated.  Thanks.  Loris
