Help Me Please
I had gastric bypass February 25th. I am down 120 pounds great right I have 80 to go. The last 8 months have been great I am off all my meds the only problem I have had was I started smoking again for about a month. Bad, I know so I quit again a week ago but know I am eating all the time and I have noticed things I couldn't eat before don't bother me. I can also seem to eat more without feeling sick. I have never had dumping at all, never been sick. I can eat "bad" stuff and it doesn't bother me. Until know I have just known I can't eat that stuff. I have no regualar excersise plan, I am much more active ride horses regularly. Now I am afraid the weight loss has stoped or I am gaining. I know smoking is terible for me and I feel beter not smoking but I have started to tell myself the quiting is getting in the way of my weight loss. What do I do, I have worked to hard to get here to throw it away.
I am sorry that you are struggling right now. It is difficult when you are going through diffiulties. I do not have the RNY, but I think that some things are true for all WLS. You need to get focused on the basics again. Start planning your meals and getting a balanceof the right proteins, carbs, and fats. Then start moving your body. Get walking everday at the very least. This will help you distract and burn calories. You can do this...just remember the basics and you will get back on track.
That little emoticon was from my son.

((hugs)) Congrats on your 120lbs! thats awesome.
Im glad you have stopped smoking again. dont go back. you crave more of the bad tempting foods and you can prob handel more of it than you need but this means you need to exercise self control. it is going to be up to you now to say no to whatever that food is u want that you know you dont need.
trust me i totally understand. im in a similar place in that i still have a while to go but now i can eat soo much more and dont get sick over much. its hard to make those cut off choices but im now learning that if i really want to get to my goal i just have to do it.
you can develope diffrent techniques like maybe having a phone or email buddy that if your craving someting bad and its not from hunger you go email your thoughts to the person or even just write in a journal.
you can go do someting else like draw, make crafts or whateve else you like to do
also try drinking a bottle of water first and see if you still want that item
the main thing my therapist tells me is that you just need to get your mind away from that craving. i actually find that once im able to distract my self for a min or so i most of the time dont even want what ever it is again.
Also you may want to determine whats behind your eating. for me im an everything eater. i eat when im sad happy bored, no emotion...i just eat...lol. so im really now working on experiencing my emotions and not using food to numb it or blur it.
its hard hon...but we can work though it. if you make a mistake just recomit again and keep working on it.
you have done an excellent job, you are still doing awesome and have made a great choice by not smoking anymore. continue though and just work thoguh the cravings.
