Thanks for all the input regarding the new gig that was posted last week.

I've decided to go for it, the worse that could happen is that they say no.

I also forgot to share that my WLS counselor was promoted and his job is open, so I applied for that last week.  I can certainly offer the bariatric surgery clients a unique perspective on the process from start to finish.

I didn't respond when you put it out there for discussion because life was sooo busy for me at the time, but I wanted to tell you this.  All through college my goal was to work at Child Protection.  I graduated and got a job that was leading me to my goal.  However, the grant money ran out on that job and I had to take another....one that was not really what I wanted to do.  Then 2 months into the job I get a call - child protection is hiring and they want me to interview.  What do I do?  I tell them no thanks I can't interview - I just took a new job.  The supervisor who called me was like - WHAT? this is what you have always wanted.  My response - I can't do that to these people who gave me a chance and hired me.  So then I get to thinking - these people found me when they were looking to hire - they will find someone else.  SO I call back child protection and apologize for being so foolish and agree to interview.  I did get the job and less than 3 months after starting a job, I had moved on.  The only regret I have about leaving that job was that in human service work you form connections with your clients and my clients at the short-stint was juvenile drug offenders.  I was just another person in their life who they were considering trusting that abandoned them.  No matter how much transition work you do with them before you leave - that is the category they put you in.  However, I had to do what was right for me or I would have ended up being ineffective for those children.

Good Luck to you!!!  ~Clinell

Good for you!!   Maybe your next decision will be which of the two job offers do I accept?  Wouldn't that be nice?
