My personal favorite is the chocolate truffel from Nectar. I mix it with milk and it is very good. When I first started getting ready for my surgery, I did SF Carnation Instant Breakfast, which was okay, but didn't have very much protein. With Nectar, I get 31g of protein when I mix it with the milk. I use 1% milk.

Good Luck! I hope and pray that all will go well with your surgery.

I am a little over 3 weeks out and I have a cupboard full of protein I HATE!!!!!!!!  What I used for my preop diet, I cannot stand the taste of now!   Everything either tastes too sweet or just icky.   There iare  2 brands of  protein I am loving post op and its Max Protein (chocolate and vanilla) you can buy it at some GNC stores or EAS Advantage (they are ready made - I get them at Target).

Good Luck!!  I would get some samples of protein from vitalady.com or baratric eating.com but I would not invest just yet!!

HTH!!

Thanks, I don't want to buy all kinds of things I can't use.  I will look at Target!

I was on a preop diet since July (3 months prior to surgery) - I had to do 3 - 4 shakes a day and lean cusine for dinner.  I needed  a varitey to get through.

Unjury.com has samples of their protein as well.  Definitely don't buy any containers of it BEFORE surgery because your tastes definitely change.

Oh boy have I been through this. I'm with everyone else - do NOT buy in bul****il you get something that works. I have tried just about everything. I muggled through the first few months trying to get in my protein food wise and with Carnation Instant Breakfast (added to milk). It was a struggle. Like someone else said -  my pantry is full of stuff that did not work. I spent a lot of $$ too.

These days (I'm 5 months out) I try to get protein from the foods I eat, I drink Mootopia a lot (milk with higher protein that you can find at HEB) and also the Carnation Instant Breakfast too.

I know it's very important to get in your protein but for lack of a better way to put it - it has been a pain in my ass!

My advice is to just try different things and see what works for you. That's pretty much what everyone has to do. No one thing works for everyone...it's just trial and error. Don't be too hard on yourself though - we've all been there. Good luck!

My favorite has always been Unjury chocolate.

This weekend I was given lots of samples and after the dentist today I tried a pre mixed chocolate drink by Smartforme. I can honestly say I liked it!  8 ounces,15 grams of protein, 110 calories, 1 gram sugar and 4 carbs. Yummy!
