Hanging Belly after WLS...did it hurt u BAD!!!
TMI, but I need some help or encouragement.
I have a big tummy from being pregnant before and PCOS. It hurts so bad, I can barely walk without holding it up. I do realize that the muscles hurts there. ALso was told that my ribcages will hurt as well. I am haunched over like the hunchback of Notre Dame.I cant stand in one place for longer then 2 mintues, because I am holding my stomach up. It feels like my tummy weighs 30 lbs. I have increased pain to the point that my dilaudid is not helping it.
Did anyone has this problem or a similar problem? Please let me know. I would really appreciate any help with this.
Thanks
Sunny
BTW: I am 5 days Post-Op!

I haven't had this problem but they make things for pregnant bellies that might help. You could try to engineer a sling of sorts yourself - if you have any body shapers./girdles you don't want any longer you cut cut one up into a large cylinder to wear around your belly. Support underwear might help but I don't know.
Probably the best thing to do is to call your surgeon and ask about an abdomenal binder. Some people wear them right after open surgery so I know they are available.
Good luck, I hope the pain eases soon!

I had this problem and it went on for a couple of months-- I felt like I was walking with my shoulders hooked to my ears from the pain! Jenn's right-- a binder will help a little with supporting the weight of that heavy achy pannus!

I just noticed that you're on my myspace. I too was pretty much an invalid. I could walk to the bathroom and back to my chair and I was DONE. I had an electric wheelchair and a push wheelchair that I used regularly. NOW I don't use one at all. I do still use the electric carts at walmart and it's my downfall and I hate it but I'm just so scared of that store because it's sooo big. I do other stores just fine. But that one just scares me. Soon you'll be off and running girl. Keep your seatbelt on honey cause it's one hell of a ride!!!
Oh yes! That was the worst part to me. I could not stand how bad that hurt a few days after surgery. Everyone told me (even a girl that worked at my doctor's office) that it would be better in a week. It wasn't for me. I was still in major pain and couldn't get comfortable no way I tried.
I remember walking around a little bit outside my house and feeling like I was hunched over like an old granny! It was horrifically painful.
My heart goes out to you because it is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Just know that it does pass and you will be okay....

I thought something was ripping whenever I tried to stand up straight post op. They were pissed at me because I cried when I walked at the hospital (IT HURT) and I didn't want to do it. I was on Diladed too but it was only effective for 15 or 20 min after each shot. I was switched to hydrcordone (sp?) elixer when I went home and it was sooooooo much more effective. The discomfort went on for over 2 weeks in my case. Hang in there and keep on top of your pain management.
