Need Your Help Again!!!!
I talked to the surgeon's office today. Aside from the fact that they were very confused as to who I was, what my date was etc.............here are my questions:
1) I was told I need to go on a liquid diet for the next 3 weeks. When I asked the P.A. if she meant slim fast she said--"ah yeah". So I say well is it 3 a day and anything else or can I have fruits and veggies. She said I could have both fruits and veggies. Does this make sense??? What did you have to do for your liquid diet? I want to do this the correct way.
2) Any help with what supplies I need to buy to get me set for my first few weeks?
Thanks!

Regarding #1:
I would call them back and ask for written directions on what "diet" they want you on. It is a true liquid diet or somethign else? Fruit and veggies dont make sense to me if you are truly o be on a liquid diet. I wish I could give you some ideas, but my surgeon's office provided me with the food they wanted me to eat the two weeks prior to surgery.
#2- sorry cant help you much there either. I had the VSG, which has a different follow up from the RNY. I am assuming you are having the RNY. Again I would ask your surgeon's office if they have a food plan they want you to follow. And if you can buy some of that ahead of time.

I would agree that you need written instructions. I was given a book before surgery that I was expected to practically memorize. It covered everything pre op, the hospital stay, and post op. It included diet at different stages and what to expect, etc.
This is too serious of a decision for them to not give you comprehensive information.
Good luck!
