HOW long for OHIP approval in Ontario?

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone out there was from Ontario, that had gone through a gastric bypass? If so how long did it take with a BMI of over 50 to get approval from OHIP then how long after that till you had a consult and finally the surgery??? Thank you in advance for all your time.

I'm in Ottawa.
Sent in my Out of Province in Mid July and had approval for RNY in a little over 2 weeks by Puralator.
I got a consult date with Dr. Fitzer for Sept 5 (got the date while waiting for OHIP) and then about 10 days after consult was mailed my date of NOv 5.  YES that's next week..... yipeee for me.

Do you know that we have an Ontario Board as well !!!
This on for over BMI 50 is great as the people are very supportive and they don't judge the way some of the other boards do.

Thank you so much for all your informationa nd help on this. I truly appreciate your help. Yes I knew there was an Ontario forun also, I am really new at this and ask alot of questions...LOL I am still not sure how to navigate through all this. How did your consult go? How long were you there for? Did you have any other medical conditions that made this urgent? How were you able to get the appointment with the Dr b4 you heard from OHIP? Did you cal there yourself?

Is that your little one in the pic with you? Congrats on your surgery next week... I wish you all the best and keep me posted asz to how you are feeling...I would love to know every step of the way to know what Iam in for also...I have some really close friends who just had this done, so getitng diffrent perspectives helps...

Maybe I am reading the above wrong...Is your consult next week Nov 5th or is that your surgery date?

The little one is my granddaughter.  She is almost 11 months old.

It doesn't take long. A few weeks at most.

If your BMI os over 50 have you looked at the DS?

It terms of getting the weight off and keeping it off , According to the stats it is a better option for you.
