First 5K!

Well, I have to be correct, it was 3.1 miles, but still, I did it!

I participated in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk today.  We walked from one mall to another in Pensacola.  It was foggy and a little cool this morning.  Karl and I were one of the first 50 to finish and I was overcome with emotion when I got done because I can remember sitting in the traffic last year @ 374 pounds trying to get to my saturday class and cussing the walk because it was making me late to class.  Now, this year, less than 1 year out from surgery, I've completed a 5K.  I would never, EVER, EVER, think that I would be walking in and completing a 5K in 1 year!

They didn't have a clock as it wasn't competitive but if they started on time at 8AM...we finished by 8:48, but somehow, I doubt it was exactly an 8AM start time.

So for those of you just starting out on your weight loss journey, you can do this!  We hauled ass to be one of the first few back and it felt absolutely great.  Oh yeah, I also raised over $600 for Breast Cancer too!

I was like you, Kathy-- I could get from the door to my car and that was about it.

I celebrated at a 5K too-- the Walk Against Obesity last September-- at the time I couldn't believe I walked three miles-- now I do it just for the hell of it.

Congratulations!!!!!

Kathy,  OMG that is wonderful.  I hope someday I can do that.  It takes me about 25 minutes to go a mile right now. I did just start exercising so I have a ways to go.  It's starting to seem like its taking forever to lose this weight, just because I am so impatient, a downfall of mine.

Your doing so wonderful! Congrats.

Impatience is one of my issues too!  You'll get there sooner than you think
