Weekend activities?
I enjoyed last weekend's thread on what we all were up to.
Me? Today I ran the DW, did 2 loads of laundry so far - another to fold and one to dry and fold. Got the boy to empty the trash and the DW. Refilled the DW about 1/2 way. Boy things get messy around here fast when I am under the weather.
Watching the PSU-OSU game on DVR later. Clay is at the store - unbelieveably he wanted tacos for dinner instead of meatloaf. He says he wants the meatloaf tomorrow....
Tomorrrow I need to make up some work hours, swim and make some phone calls. Oh, and carve a pumpkin.
Not very exciting but peaceful is nice.

Sat we got some bad financial news. We have now drained our savings completely and I have my camera and all of my accessories up for sale on craigslist. I cried a lot about that, off and on all day. I love my camera. Its one of few pleasures in my life these days. It also looks like its going to be a very slim Christmas. So not a good day, all in all.
We went out this evening to see our friends - they treated us to dinner, and we played Rock Band. Then Barbi said something to my husband that upset him and he's barely said a word since. I look forward to forgetting this day as soon as possible. Hurry up midnight!
Tomorrow I plan to grade a lot of papers, read stuff for teaching, and probably pout. And hopefully find a buyer for my camera.
So, yeah. I bet that was more than anyone wanted to know about my crappy life.

I know the feeling. I had $80k from my mother when she passed away, and after paying for my care when I was homebound (before SSDI) plus dipping in to it here and there to cover bills that SSDI didn't cover (like sandwich-sized bags of antibiotics that cost $600 per dose), I'm down to about $2k. I want to cry every time I think about it.
I was watching the news this morning and they were talking about how hard it is for older folks to find work and how many retired people are having to go back to work now that the economy is so bad. If I could get on my knees, I'd thank the Goddess I have my job.
It will be a slim Christmas here, too, which personally sux for me since my birthday is just before then, but I guess I can look at it in that my job is my big gift this year.
It's a hard time for everyone, you certainly aren't alone. I don't have any words of advice for you, just a shoulder to cry on.

PS, thanks again for the advice on the Brooks Ariels. I wore mine for the first time yesterday and my feet did not yodel at all. It took me a minute or two to figure out how to walk in them, though.

Are you a Sagitarian or a Capricorn? I'm a Cappy, Jan 6th. Nobody ever has any $ left and is too worn out by the holiday season. I always wanted a summer birthday.
Clay was getting really worried and asked how we were. I think the worst that might occur for me might be a wage freeze/cut.
Not to get political here, but I'll be so happy when the winds of change start to sweep out the old policies and move to a gov't for the 21st century. One that helps those who need it, as opposed to rewarding those who don't. Here's to a better tomorrow.

I totaly understand the money problem,i had to get some off of my older son today for gas..
But i know we have an insurance check coming so that helps,i know that gas has went down but nothing else has it went up and stayed up.
I cringe when i think about buying groceries dh went in and got2.5 pounds of hamburger 6.81 (not ground chuck) for hamburger..
My grandmal had nothing and she would say at least im healthy and have my family and that makes me rich..I try to follow that rule but it is hard..
We had money in the savings and went to get some and it was gone dh said where did the money go ..ummm duh we spent it ,he didnt realize it goes so fast..
It will get better sweetie and you can get you a better camera soon..

I spent all day Saturday up at Blackhawk, mostly watching people win money. My coin jar didn't fare very well, I should have left while I was $80 up, but I didn't. One dude was $1000k up on the slot machine next to me (pig). I did a bunch of walking while I was up there and collected my "free" gift (a golf shirt).
Today, just errands and trying to figure out what to dress up as for tomorrow's work party. I'm too lazy to do anything clever, so I might just put on my black legging and black turtleneck and call myself a Beat poet. I need a copy of "Howl" though.

Are your co-workers of an age that they will "get" it? Mine would need a wikipedia link. Texted to them.
I enjoyed the baby shower a few weeks back so much that I also signed up for the Halloween party at work. I had avoided these sorts of gatherings as it hurt too much to be caught standing. Now it's not such an issue, but it does help to plan ahead.
Now I need to figure out a costume. The easiest is a Gypsy, but they might not get that I was wearing a costume - just more than usual of the things that make me Patty.

Well I had a great weekend. Friday was date night and we went for a couple of drinks then to a tappas restaurant. I had on a red bra and panty set with a garter & thigh highs. He liked that little present when we got home.
The tappas was wonderful and just perfectly sized for me. We had crab tacos with mango and honeydew salsa and focaccia with feta and olive tapenade. Everything was so good. For dinner I had a mixed green salad with duck, applewood smoked bacon and goat cheese. Karl just stuck to another tappas as he didn't want to spend $30 on a dinner (yikes!) and had New Orleans BBQ shrimp which is a very spicy sauce and toast points.
Saturday, of course, I did the Breast cancer walk. Let me tell you, my quads ar a little sore today. Then I went to sam's and found 2 nice silk blend shirts. We had chicken tacos for dinner last night and they were pretty good too.
Today was church then I went to Target and scored on protein bars. Eight in a pack for $2.48 - they are Balance bars. I mostly got them for Karl as I don't do the meal replacement bars much as they are too filling. Bought a new faux-croc magenta giant-sized purse too on clearance.
I hate that everyone is having money issues. Karl just got finished with his double dipping. He's active dury right now and for almost 10 months, he was on paid vacation from the Sheriff's department. So we took all the extra money and paid off our consumer debt. All we have now is our house and my convertible payments that we have to make. So the economic crisis hasn't affected us as much as others but we were very smart in paying off all of our debt. We have a nice padding in the savings account too.
It was just gorgeous here today too. But here I sit, reading the NY Times and reading OH posts.
