Can you share your EGD experience???
Okay...I admit it....I am nervous about my EGD coming up on Friday!!! I was just wondering if anyone would like to share their experience with me...one thing I worry about is that every time I ever have to go to the hospital or emergency room....they treat me like someone should have notified Guinness......I know I am huge....I see it every day...and I am sure that it really makes things difficult for the doctors or staff....but dang....sometimes it just gets old ya know....I guess I am just kind of dreading the whole procedure.....one good thing....is that the hospital I am going to has a bariatric floor...so I am hoping they won't have too much trouble accommodating me.....thanks for any input....I really appreciate it!!!

What does EGD stand for? hummn.... The Bariatric floors are great! They have huge everything. Even the waiting room chairs are more benchlike at my surgeons. The tables are sturdy and won't flip when you try to climb on them and the gowns even fit. I got a 10x and I was swimming in it. Nice for a change. My gyn only has sz medium and the nurse still hands it to me and asks me to change into it, LMAO. Yeah, right!

Hey Jamie!!
My EGD experience was just fine. The hospital I had mine done at did not have a baratric floor and I had a gown that fit just fine - lol. I went in (nothing to eat or drink after midnight) and they called me back, I changed into a gown, the nurse came in and ran my IV, then they took me up to the scope room. The GI came in and said hello and thats the last thing I remember!! He gave me demerol and versed to relax - I had no idea what hit me!!!!! LOL!! I woke up in recovery - my husband said I was back in 10 minutes and I was asleep for an hour.
I was super scared before my EGD - but after it was all over I went home and crashed - no pain, no sore throat.
HTH!!!
