NEED SOME GOOD VIBES FOR MY MOM
HEY THERE EVERYONE.... I USUALLY DON'T ASK FOR FAMILY SUPPORT, BUT HERE GOES.. MY MOM WAS ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL TODAY WITH A BAD INFECTION IN HER FOOT. SHE IS DIABETIC, WHICH MAKES EVERYTHING WORSE, AND HARDER FOR HER TO HEAL. SHE NEEDS TO BE ON IV ANTIBIOTICS FOR A FEW DAYS. SHE IS A VERY INDEPENDANT WOMAN, AND IS NOT USED TO BEING LAID UP. IT IS SO HARD FOR ME TO SEE HER LIKE THIS TOO. ANY EXTRA GOOD VIBES SENT HER WAY WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!
THANKS

Prayers going your way.
I know how frustrating it is to be laid up when you are used to being on the go, but rest is critical for her right now.
Can you find some "project" for her to keep her busy, but sedentary? My nephews once gave my folks a Grandparent's Memory book, where it was nicely formatted for older folks to write down memories an such to pass along to the grand kids. Could something like that help keep her from going stir crazy?

OMG, I have been on IV antibiotics more times than I want to think about. Is she in the hospital or at home with a PICC line?
If she has a wound on her foot, and if it doesn't heal once the infection clears up, ask your doctor about hyperbaric therapy (oxygen chamber). I understand it does wonders in promoting healing of wounds in people who have issues with healing (such as diabetics).

She is in the hospital with a periphal IV for the antibiotics. Her foot is infected, but there is no open wound.... they think it may have started with a bug bite. She was outside cleaning out the flower beds on Monday, then woke up Tuesday with her foot hot, swollen and red!! I'm sure she will get better quickly, I know she will. All my medical background tells me that, but it is still hard when it is your own family member who is stuck in the hospital
Caroline,
I will send some prayers your way.
I feel such love for my mom also, its like when they get older they turn into your kids. I check in with my mom everyday, I provide a home for her right next door to me. Since I lost my dad a few years ago to cancer, she is alone. I am her only daughter, with 4 brothers that are so wrapped up in their lives they don't seem to have time. She is 78, independent also, keeps going strong, and avoids doctors like the plague.
So I understand how worried you are Caroline. Let us know how she is doing.

Caroline~
Will definitely add your Mom and you and your family to my prayer list. Keep the positive thougts and vibes going and I'm sure she'll be home before long.
I understand how it's hard for you to see your Mom laid up, even though we're adults we still look to Mom for advice and I myself would feel kinda helpless if anything happened to my Mom. My Mom is 71 and she lives with my older sister. I am blessed that she is in good health and still able to take care of herself.
