Mom Update
We saw 3 different DR's this morning. Surgeon took out all staples, but her wound isn't healing at the bottom so they've decided to pack it on a daily basis while it heals. We go back at 7:30AM tomorrow morning.
Oncologist was next, and of course the hardest. Very sweet, young female DR. She was wonderful, took lots of time with us, answered questions and was very up front and honest.
She will not start any treatment until the wound heals, and even then she's hesitant. She said the cancer is already stage 4 and that gastric cancer is very fast spreading. With chemo it might give her an additional 2 months, but she'll be sick too. So Mom has to think about that. Quality of life is important to Mom. The DR said if chemo added years it would be a different story and Mom agreed. Also if Mom was younger the DR would want to be much more aggresive. We both agreed with her.
She'll have a full body CAT scan done in a few weeks and then we go back to see the DR in a month.
Mom actually asked how long she had to live. The DR said it could be between 6-8 months but then again it could be longer.
Our last appointment was the best news, the kidney DR said her kidney disease is gone, she's cured and we don't have to go back!
Keep those prayers and good thoughts coming, we need them now more than ever!
Thanks!

Jan... Hugs, prayers and well wished to you and your entire family. The only advice I could give would be to take lots of pictures and to cherish every moment you have together. It's the memories that last a lifetime.. Hugs,

You know, I know you are sad about this, but I can't help but look at your picture and know that you are also smiling through all of this. I know your faith and you have hope for your mother that whatever happens you know you'll see her again and that she'll no longer be in pain and that there's a new world waiting for her! Know that you have friends all over the US that are praying for you and your mother! Hugs !!
Kathy - I am sad, but not for myself. Mom and I talked today and it's my 7 year old niece I'm saddest for. I grew up with a Grandma I adored and my neice feels that same way about my Mom, her Grandma. I feel bad that they won't have lots and lots more years together, and that breaks my heart the most.
Mom is a very positvie woman, one of the strongest believers I know. When the DR told us today how long she thought she had left, Mom's first comment was "Well, at least I have time to say good-bye and tell eveyone how much I love them, some people don't get that, they die suddenly."
More than anything I hope I can be like my Mom when I'm all grown up!
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers.
