Question for about the half-way point

Hey Guys!

I was just wondering if any of you have been advised to increase your caloric intake as a sort of kick-start for your weight loss at around the half-way point? I am 4 months out - and not complaining - and am down 92 lbs. and have just started on the treadmill 4 times a week but have been at the same weight for 3 weeks now and dont know if I am eating too little or too much, or what. I;ve been at 700-800 calories a day and am not sure to increase it or not. My next visit with my Dr. isn't until late December. Thanks for you feedback!

Yes I was advised to, but I am also probably starting at a higher weight than you (83 BMI) so I don't know if my experience is reflective of that. I have steadily been told to increase my calories. You can always call your doc's office or the nutritionist associated with your doc if there is one.

I've hesitated to reply as every doctor's plan and program is so different.  But here is what I was given as my guidelines as far as calories and protein grams:

For every month out x 100 calories per day.  So you're 4 months out, roughly 400 calories a day. However, my NUT wasn't really concerned about this early out...we only really started talking about it seriously at 9 months out. For instance now I'm about at 1000 per day - BUT the rule is I can choose ONE high fat serving per meal. Like if I have a burger, I can have EITHER cheese OR mayo - not good idea (calorie wise) to have both. Do I always do it - NO! Do I do it sometimes - YES.

For every month out x 10 grams of protein.  Once again, my goal at 4 months out was 40 grams per day.  Now my goal is 90 - 100.  (I think it tops out at this point, too.)

I did bump up my calories a bit when I was swimming every day doing 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile laps. And sometimes I'd go over on calories (especially fat and carbs, go figure) to shake things up a bit.  I've never had any major stalls - I think I've had the same weight for 2 weeks in a row once or twice.  However, I didn't weigh on a regular basis early out just to avoid knowing the ups and downs that are inevitable at this stage.

Hang in there!
