Alcohol
My surgeon said to wait one year after RNY to have alcohol, and I did. It's excess calories w/ no nutritional value, plus some folks have a very strong reaction to alcohol after RNY. And I think all alcohols are going to have some sugar - it's the nature of the beast, although I could be wrong about that.... I know some folks have had a glass of wine 3-4 months post-op and seemed to do okay...
My recommendation - follow your surgeon's guidelines, whatever they are...

I agree, follow your surgeon's guidelines. I waited about 6 months, but a year is a good recommendation. It is empty calories and it will hit you hard. I generally don't feel good when I drink. I am drunk fast and then hungover an hour later.
I would wait at least a year.. Luckily I wasn't a drinker before my surgery.. so now I don't have any use for it..

RNY ~ 01/25/2008 Terrence Clarke (Ellis Hosptial Bariatric Center).... Lower Body Lift with butt lift and upper thigh lift ~ 07/14/2009 Sanjiv Kayastha (K Plastic Surgery) -- LOVE IT !!!!
Surgeon told me 6 months and to watch what and how much. I had wine 6 months post op and had no feelings at all, not even a buzz. I drank scotch and water at 9 months and again nothing so I realized I don't have any sensitivity to the sugar in alcohol. Also I realized that if it wasn't going to do it's job and help me relax I wasn't going to waste the calories.
