Total Calories Question

How many calories do you eat per day? Not to be nosey, but I'm getting different answers from everyone I'm asking. My doctor tells me one thing, my Nut tells me another and then my family says I don't eat enough. I'm a little over 3 months post-op and depending on the day, depends on what I eat, but mostly I'm eating around 600-700 calories a day.

If you don't mind sharing how many you eat each day, I would appreciate it.

My doc tends to go a little higher than many. He says around 800cal from the beginning if you can get it in. Then at about 3 months I think he upped me to 1000. Then at 9 months he upped it to 1200-1400. More importantly, he upped my protein goal each time also. I was aiming for 80g protein at 3 months out which is a lot and hard to do. I now aim for 100-120g, which is still hard to do. I think there is no hard and fast rule, but sometimes when your weight loss plateaus upping the calories helps. Sometimes it doesn't.

I am at 600 calories a day, my nut said between 600-800.  I just can't seem to get much above 600 right now.  I am at 5 weeks today.

My doc/nurse says that if I can stay under 1000 for the first 6 months... I will be able to shed more weight, because it comes off easier in the first 6 months or so.  I am usually between 700-900 cals.  I try to get 60-80 gms of protein in, that is very hard sometimes.

1,000 calories was the last that I heard from my nut at 8 months.  I just upped it to 1,100 last week and dropped a quick 3 pounds.  We lost our nut and that position has not been filled so I have no one to verify my increase in.  I'm at almost 11 months.

I don't count calories, never have. My Dr told me from the beginning "this is not another diet, it's my new way of life." He actually doesn't want us counting calories.

Of course that doesn't mean to say counting calories doesn't work for some.

I just work at eating protein first each time I eat.

I don't count calories either.  I have a protein goal of at least 80-90gms at this point.  Started at 60 post op.  I'm 7 + months out.  Everyone is a little different, but your doc or nut should be who you listen to.  I hate to sound blunt, but I don't think family should have input if you are following the professional opinions.
